| The former Director annoyed the hell out of me...... we all went there to find out the current situation at the club and find a way out of it..... then numpty stands up - "I put 80 grand in etc".
That was in the past - Well done doing that in the past and a big Thank You for doing so at that time........... BUT it didn't help things last night or the current situation.
Time for the silly little bickering to STOP and lets find a way out of this mess and move forward. The club is in a lot better situation than a lot of other clubs in the following ways:-
Stadium, Ticked box by winning the NRC, larger crowds, shirt sales and junior development.
The club as got the potential to go on to bigger and better things BUT lets stop the stupid digs at the club and work together to sort the current situation out.
RANT OVER.

| Unfortunately 50% of the Rugby supporters in the town hold similiar grudges/issues with old long gone directors/players/chairmen etc.. they can't seem to let go of the past.

| That's were the problem is....especially with the stay away fans..... let go of the past.
As I stated we have the potential to get back with the big clubs - BUT this can only be achieved by working together.

..... and I'll be standing in the Hilton Park stand, yes that's right I've named the North Stand myself: |
|
| Quote: maurice "It was Johnny, as a response to someone going on about Sky funding reducing £10k - so if 1000 families in Leyth stopped it and stated that it was because of the treatment of non SL RL, even better if every other club did the same, then in Leyth alone subs drop £600k pa. If 200 fans donated that saving back to the club then we are in a very healthy position - as I am sick of saying the deficit is peanuts lets get the initiatives rolling and lets take our club forward.
In todays climate companies are fighting for our £'s so lets maximise those opportunities by uniting the fans behind the objectives eg 1200 families spending £5k pa at a supermarket
Thing is while I agree with it in principal I have SKY for a lot more than rugby league and the treatment comes down to how the RFL dish the money out and arrange the terms of the contract rather than what SKY offer the RFL so we're barking up the wrong tree really.

| Cant believe that SL clubs are getting more money next season and the lower leagues get less............ SL clubs earn more money through bigger crowds, season tickets sales and merchandise etc.
The RFL are a joke...... crap on the small clubs.

| What's the betting that if the deal with Premier sports takes off that the SL clubs want in on that too?

| Quote: mishmash "I thought the meeting went really well, spoiled only by John Abbey. Obviously he has legitimate concerns about the past and his role in it, but the fans forum was the wrong time and place to air his disgruntlement and he started the evening off on a very sour note. Why did he feel the need to ask his questions then anyway? That's all old news and if he was that concerned (rather than just trying to cause trouble) he could have talked about it privately at any other time.'"
I think most of the genuine fans that were there would agree with this sentiment. I would suggest that at any future fans forum the Q & A section is at the end rather than the beginning. This will allow the meeting to start off on a more positive note and the more important matters won't be rushed due to mostly irrelevant drivel.
I felt sorry for the presenters who had obviously put a lot of work into their presentations only to be rushed along because of time restraints.

Those were my sentiments exactly, the meeting was convened to discuss how the club moves forward and to plan its way out of the financial “stress” to use one of the speakers terms. The ideas on generating cash in the short term were positive, the schemes for the medium and longer term were both positive and encouraging and I agree should have been presented before the Q & A session.
Those that presented at the end (Alan, Linda etc) did well and again could have been afforded a little more time, the LISA message is ultra important.
Too much time was wasted talking about whom put what into the pot years ago, frankly I am amazed the panel entertained that buffoon early on in the meeting, there was no need for them to state how much they had put into the club and simply fuelled his self important ego.
The discussions / questions regarding the match day experience prices of beer and food etc. should have been politely brought to a halt with the promise of debating these topics at another more appropriate meeting.

| I always thought that the Q&A following Keith Freer's statement, could be in danger of taking over the evening. However, that statement was a very important one, in that it was about the club's immediate future - without solving that one, we can't have the bright future that many of us envisage. Also, the Board and CEO want to foster the 'open' aspect of business - i.e there's nothing to hide - so to shut the first questioner up, might not have looked too good!
The gentleman in question probably asked a legitimate question, which was then answered honestly and succinctly. He should then have had the sense/grace to shut up and let someone else have a go. However, what he did succeed in doing was to alienate the entire audience, who eventually overwhelmed him.
Did we as presenters feel rushed? Absolutely, which is very frustrating when you have put in a lot of work - not just on the presentation, but on achieving the positive news that we were trying to put over. The most unfortunate presenter of the lot, was the guy who had to come last - John Hesketh. He came last, because he was locked in a meeting with the RFL, down the corridor, discussing Player Pathway Profiles. I have to say that this man has done some amazing work on the Player Pathway - a concept that will probably produce far more long-term benefits for Leigh Centurions, and the youth of the town, than all the rest of our projects put together. I hope he gets another chance to get his message across, perhaps in a 'less dry' way, because what he intends to achieve is incredible.

| Yeah I felt really sorry for him too. I don't think he even got the opportunity to do his full presentation.

If your refering to the fella talking about the player pathway, how many people in there understood most of his presentation? Good stuff by the way but people need to understand their audience and the audience need to understand what they are saying. Too many big words in long sentences.

| For those who sent in texts on the night, Trevor would like to apologise for not getting to answer them but as you know the evening was running over time. Anyway, here are the texts - and the answers1. When Arthur left, didn’t he say that our debts were sorted till the end of the season?[/size
We considered that there should be no mention of Arthur which could misconstrued as criticism bearing in mind the presentation to him on Friday night at the Park Inn. There was little debt when he went but over the following months payments out started to accrue.
[size2. Don’t bad mouth the RFL too much otherwise they won’t advance any money![/size
Point taken - we have a better relationship with the RFL than ever before.
[size3. So who’s fault is it that we are in so much debt? Time for the board to own up.[/size
Can you tell me how two open fans forums with the obvious transparency on show is any kind of a cover up? The fault or blame if it helps you deal with life, is not of the remnant board's making. It is pointless and unconstructive to comment further.
[size4. Can we get back to how the club has planned, is planning, to move forward?[/size
Hopefully what Keith said about the plan we have put forward shows that a lot of work has gone into making a sustainable plan. The four presentations from the PSG should demonstrate that we have a lot of positivity going forward.
[size5. Is the 70k debt to the players for Sept, Oct and Nov?[/size
Yes
[size6. What happened to the shirt sponsor we had sorted for the next two seasons?
[/size
It fell through unfortunately
[size7. Sell the programme online. Do a season’s subscription and sell individually. Create a smoking area outside ground during the match like other grounds do. Cheers Michael from London.[/size
Will have to think about this. We are loathe to sell he programme on line. More trouble than it is probably worth. It will the boost the advertising revenue from adverts which is probably best.
