WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED ON WEDNESDAY?

Either Mr Kear’s lot doesn’t want to be in the 1895 cup or he has yelled himself ho for two days. First thought, did they put the youth team out? Then simply, did they just put the cat out?

Five foresaw a Barrovian triumph but it was a mere five points for each due to the wide margin. There’s an entry in Wisden regarding a Lancs cricketer, when quoting his top score it adds “in contrived circumstances”. Not fair on the paying public but, as the match was held in Cumbria, most won’t be demanding refunds. The four to miss out were (A-Z) Bongser, EVVO, Wanderer & Zools (more of those later!)

Exactly the same margin The Shay! This time eight out of nine prophesied an away win (Zools daring to be different) but, again, just five points to the majority.

Much closer at Widnes where The Chemics narrowly outdid The Flatcaps. Strangely the same four that miscalled the Barrow/Bulls game were the only four that correctly called this win. All of those scored margin points to boot. Closest was a large, cartilaginous (Mark) feeesh that scored 28. Bravo!
