Quote: JENKY "Shame that,
What was the last competitve game we played when we didn't sell a programme ?'"

Sorry there's no programme. It was MY SUGGESTION, agreed by the CEO, based on these factors.

(1) Previous season's sales at this stage (e.g. Hull Dockers, Lokomotiv Moscow) have been extremely low.

(2) We have just produced two programmes, in little over a week, (Barrow, Workington) and a third one would have been too much to ask of a team of volunteers. (based on experiences last season and indeed this)

(3) Yours truly has suffered a recent family bereavement and been in hospital for an op. - I can't even attend today and am gutted about that.

Well folks Im going to watch Leigh, as you all know the club need our money right now.
You dont have to be a mathamaticion to know crowds are still down on budget and the more people that stay away the more likely it is we wont have a club to watch in the future.
Times are very hard for me atm, finance wise and health wise, but Ill support my team.

If at first you dont succeed ......... Cheat:8037.jpg

But doesn't loyalty work both ways ?

The club had the opportunity to help the fans out in these harsh times you don't have to be a mathematician to work out their financies are tight and with it being the 4th home game in 14 days they could have set the price at a tenner .

But instead they chose to try and screw every last penny out of them .

Second home the gym:

If there had been a realistic price for just our game I would have gone, but not willing to pay £18 against an amateur team when I usually only pay £16 to watch a championship game.

Fair enough with regards to the programme. I can not argue with your reasoning based on the above and thank you for the explanation.

Also sorry to hear your bad news Alan and I hope your fortunes change swiftly for the better.

Thanks Harold.

I would always want to produce the programme, as I feel committed to the cause of getting information 'out there'. However, circumstances have conspired to prevent that, this week. I can see problems looming again soon, when I'm on holiday!

When the club next come out with the begging bowl they should be reminded of this missed opportunity to gain both revenue and credibilty instead of showing their contempt for the paying public with their 'rip em off ' attitude.

" Time is but a flowing stream". Pedro. Higherfold Cockey Pond. 1973. You can shout for silence, but boots worn all day will always hum.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_28343.gif

I don't think they have a "ripum off attitude" Reffy. I think it's a blinkered one of lack of common sense and running the club on an even keel. I think the BOD do care for the fans but have a lot on their plate. Having said that they should seen the early signs - from this forum - of what the die hard fans think and altered the price.

Perfectlly justified (in fact no need for a explanation - it was a genuine query of when we last didn't produce a programme or a team sheet)
Its a pity about as it breaks a really good record of production (and probably underlines just how bad things are for our club in terms of volunteers and finances) even a 4 pager would have been a record of the event but when its run with such short staffing its amazing we actually have a quality programme week to week ,let alone one of the best in the game.

Really hope your personal fortunes improve and sorry to hear of your bereavement.
If theres anything I can help with (bearing in mind I'm pretty useless at anything IT) during your time away please drop me a line.

Thanks for the offer and the kind thoughts Jenky. I thought I ought to provide an explanation, as supporters, I believe, are entitled to one - especially in an instance such as this. (I'd no idea how far back it was, since we last failed to produce a programme) I believe the role of 'Programme Editor' has always (or for a long time at any rate!) been a voluntary one, but you're right - staff are spread thinly at the club, and there is no allowance for any period of absence.

Attendence given as 450 for the Swinetown game , and a huge 728 for ours , perhaps people forgot to bring Bob .
