Quote: PlayTheBall "Everyone is entitled to their opinion and also to express it on this Forum.
However I suggest it must be more than a little discouraging for the likes of Paul and the BOM to be reading some of the negative stuff that is appearing around actual and even potential signings.
Paul and Derek are clearly busting a gut to find suitable players that are a good fit to take the Club forward at a price that fits the business plan.
We have to accept that there is always a risk in taking on any new employee in any type of business and it is impossible to get recruitment 100% right on every occasion.
In my view we need to trust in their skills to, on most occasions, identify the right players and to secure their services on reasonable terms. I would suggest that Paul's record to date in both player selection and player development is very good and that he and the BOM need and deserve the same level of support as we are currently giving the team that Paul sends out onto the field.'"

The club/BOM/PR cannot expect every decision to please every fan, I find this a strange signing but could turn out to be a master stroke and hopefully it will be.

This is an unofficial forum so if the BOM do not want to see peoples honest opinions, don't read it, they or other fans who back the club no matter what need to realise that opinions that differ to their own are allowed to be expressed.

Agree 100% eusa_clap.gif

Some think it's a terrible signing, some think it's a brilliant signing, some don't really know what to think! This is what makes following a sports club interesting.

Surely, though, the BOM and PR have enough confidence in their own ability not to have to try and justify the decision.

As do the 'people' who back the club (then again one would think that all of us 'back the club' thats what fans do is it not?) are allowed to voice their honest opinion (are they not all HONEST?).

Well said Leyther Always I love listening to everybody's views it's what makes this forum so good. People fall out, they agree to disagree they call each other, and they even go as far as to say they are not coming on the forum anymore. But one under lying thing that runs through all there posts is that they love Leigh Centurions. That my view.

Yes he played in their grand final last year V Wests a quick google search revels. He may not have played this year (I dont know) but reading it would seem he fell out with them for some reason or has been busy working it doesn't make it clear.

I'm not sure why, but every time we get some debate going on here we have people getting upset because other people disagree with their opinion.

Lets get this clear so we're all on the same page: having your opinion disputed, even if it is by a majority of people, is not the same as having your opinion oppressed.

On Jefferies, my initial worry is that we're picking up a player who hasn't been playing. I hope I'm wrong about that, and I hope Jeffries is a model pro who will do our club proud. I trust in the BoM and Coaching Staff to make good decisions, but inevitably they won't all be good.

There are bound to be differences of opinion when a surprise signing is made, the guy was good, is still good, will be good or not. The odd thing on this thread is not any negativity it is the shock/horror/sadness from the board spokesman that forum members have the temerity to be negative. Reap the applause by all means but why not ignore the odd boo.

For what it's worth I think the young prop will be the better signing.

I will correct you as I am not a spokesman for the board and on the odd occasion I do post on here I do so as my own person and not on behalf of the club.

The person I responded to didn't seem to understand the reasons why BJ has been signed and so I pointed out Paul's comments and reasons extracted from an official club release.

I simply made an observation that the only real negativity towards this signing has been on this forum, coincidently a place were people can hide behind usernames and not reveal who they are.

The last few months we've adopted a policy of putting out releases via official channels and interacting with supporters only through official channels or social media accounts like facebook and twitter were the majority of people express opinions without hiding behind a username and we all know who each other is.

I think this is the best policy and we shall continue to do so. I just hope Ben doesn't stumble across this thread or I'm sure he may regret turning down other clubs to join ours.

Don't think anyone is arguing with that Lynda, I'm certainly not.

My post was to highlight Paul's reasoning for the signing in his own words for bringing BJ to the club as some posters are either overlooking them or not understanding them. With a talented but young and inexperienced set of half backs in a FT environment nobody should underestimate these reasons and the experience and quality this guy brings to the club as we move up a gear next season will be vital.

The guy I responded to would have like to have seen a punt taken on a young half back, next season is not a year for punts or gambles in my opinion as we strive for top four and a shot in the middle eight next year to give us a potential play off for SL 2016.

I made a personal observation (not a statement on behalf of the club) that the only negativity or what I personally perceive as negativity towards this signing has been on this message board.

If we get this kind of reaction to adding a top class experienced half back who we identified and secured ahead of other challengers to add to an already strong squad I'm just glad we haven't actually lost a game this year in the league icon_lol.gif

As per the reporter, we have a few who know him well, Oli and finnegan both do, so I'm sure the homework has been done. I am very pleased with this signing
