Get LEIGH outta wigan: |
|
| if our first home gate is anything to go off, fax, barra, widnes, fev, toul will all get bigger gates than us this season and i would guess they dont pay a small fortune for the priviledge of playing home games. also revenue income from advertizments must be higher for these club they own or practically own there grounds. i thing we need to take a step back & have a reality check here,we've got a top chairman a top coach & a top ground.sadly its going to take time before we can compete with the top teams.hopefully that comes later this season when all the backs start clicking together[we know there not bad players]and we get our strong pack back. if not then its next season, let face it as leigh supporters we've all been here before.

| Quote: FredParky "Because Ivan sometimes certain people act like kids when a solution to a 'problem' is given, if you dont want an answer then dont ask the question, but dont shoot down someone who gives an answer that you dont like.
Like I said Alan recruitment is down to the coaching staff and the only way to get an answer is to ask them, thats what I do both in private and at LISA meetings.
Income not spending is the problem the talent available could possibly be out there but if you aint got the money to spend on it......
And Batleys crowds have consistently been over the 1200 mark for a few years now, Dewsbury was a bad example as they were up until last term a Div 1 team, who even then got around the 1000 mark, but both own/manage their own stadiums and have income steams from it that we do not.'"
I agree money is our problem but you are wrong about Batley Fred and if you look on the RFL website you will find the true figures there.Last season their crowd average was a long ways away from 1000.

| Watched your last game last season v haven, your team looked ok.The playing of Paul at s/h is probaly your main problem an organiser he aint.At the Bulls it was Deacon who did the organising.Your team is crying out for a leader on the pitch.Paul should be s/o or hooker no way is he a scrum half.

| As a York fan I am surprised at the amount of moaning as the game could have gone either way really. On reflection we were lucky that Leigh spilled so much ball cos you guys could have been 16-0 up before we got a look in and the whole complextion of the game would have changed. We digged in and defended well but probley got the rub of the green and most ref decisions went with us.After the break leigh really turned the heat up and an early try would probley have seen you go onto win.Robbie Paul is still a good player and looked dangerous with his fast pace and reasonable kicking game.he wont drop the ball as many times every again I'm sure.Thought Nanyn was underused and if the ball had found its way out to him earlier in the sets when York were lacking cover he could well have grabbed a few tries cos he still takes a lot of stopping.A draw would have been fair but as had gone before it took another Leigh knockon early in the tackle count which put us in good field range for the drop.If the game had gone on another 5 mins think Leigh would have scored again,we were very tired in the end and Leigh played too much panic rugby in the second half when mabe a steady head was needed to calm things down. When your returning forwards are back on the park I think you will be challenging the likes of Sheffield and Fev but are still behind Barrow,Fax and Widnes. When we win at Sheffield on Sunday todays result wont look so bad for you.(lol!!!!)

Agree with you but at the time it was awful to watch and we should /could have done alot more when you guys tired but like you said panic rugby, and that does not win you games,as for the knock-ons i hope they all got it out of their system in that game You cant help but feel disheartened after a performance like that though but after a day or two you get over it and onto the next game.By the way can i say how welcome my friends and me were made in the bar ,we only wanted a hot drink but they took us to sit with the diners

According to the coaching team, our completion rates were below 50% in the last two games, and that means a heck of a lot of tackling!

| The forwards last week were some size and i know it must have taken its toll on our lads tackling them big beggers but we still managed to give them the runaround in the latter part of the game and thats when we should have put more points on the board but hey it did'nt happen so onwards and upwards

'Hi-Ho Silver Lining'

| We are a team that got relegated last year after massively underperforming.
We have been underperforming since relegation (bar one good result in the Cup).
I would imagine Millward has been signed to try and stem the tide, we signed a player who is excellant for Public Relations and offers some experience to a vastly inexperienced squad.
It will take time and anyone expecting a play off tilt or a guarenteed cup final needs to perhaps lower expectations for now, there are far too many good well run & organised clubs in this division for us to 'overtake them' based primarily in signing 1 top class coach and 1 top class player.
Yes we may get lucky and get on a confidence roll and win the cup games (with a helluva lot of luck and work) but personally this season is for finishing higher than last and slowly rebuilding a club that is misfiring on & off the pitch and has been for a few years.
The encouraging thing for me Sunday was the amount of dropped ball / lack of concentration that can be worked on by the coaching team and things can be changed - we played awful, York played well, we lost by 1 point.
Last year that would have been a 40 point hammering as the team would have lost its way once things fell apart.
The club has sold the team to the public based on Millward and Paul and put bluntly neither are miracle workers (although Millward has previous of doing this ) and it will take time, the club itself though in the meantime has to start promoting matchdays and doing a lot more off field to increase attendances as I fear on field we may struggle to use that as a selling point until we get all our injured players back and the new ones gell in.
However lets not forget its very very early days, so lets look forward rather than back, yes sunday was poor , yes I question the wisdom of spending so much for little enjoyment , but it isn't all doom & gloom and hopefully the club and Basil and his team will slowly turn things around.

| My opinion is we are a league higher. We lost.
Non relegation league is way ahead of the Championship. Championship is way ahead of championship 1.
We lost we were awfull. The fact remains' however well York played they beat us. Not good enough.

| We're only a league higher by the grace of god though Frank. Or grace of god and the goodwill of the RFL anyway... We should be a Championship 1 side this year
Ah well, onwards and upwards?
