| What is AJM's contribution to the club now? He must have some views on our current condition. Surely we can use his wealth of experience to our advantage!

I've been speaking to AJM and what he says can't be repeated on here!
No one at the club ever asks for his views or is even remotely interested in what he thinks can be done to remedy the situation. I think they're missing a trick here because he's probably forgot more about rugby league than they'll ever know and OK maybe he is a bit of a dinosaur but he still knows how to get the best out of players. He would have those players running through brick walls for him and their club - unfortunately, the coaching staff and their egos wouldn't allow him to get within a mile of their dressing room or training field.

| Quote: Dick Jones "Im sorry but after reading that it makes me reeally worry more about our future.
This is how I see it, we appoint a coach in NK whos was a great coach but maybe has beeen out of our game too long and who had a problem with his health.
He brought in S Donlan whos a Leigh Lad and if fit would have been awesome in this league,
Also Armistead who was the player of the year in our league last year and before the Fev away game where he got injured looked to be a good prospect,
Then we have N Stanton who has been excellant.
Higson was good till he too had injuries which have kept him out a hugh part of the season.
Magraff Leuluai who s good in attack but his defence is a bit lacking at times, however a good prospect for the future.
THe number six he wanted never got here, no fault there on the clubs part.
He retained, C Hill whos never gives up and all the players had Chris,s attitude and commitment we wouldnt be in this position. Morty also he never gives up and always shows passion every time he pulls on a shirt.
then they move Kelly upsatirs and bring in aPaul whos Leigh through and through but IMHO wasnt ready to be first team coach but had it stuck on him as we couldnt afford to pay offf NK and bring in someone else. Paul is not ready yet. His Passion being from Leigh isnt enough atm and we need someone who can instill belief into the players as the palyers we have are the most expensive set we have had since SL.
Us as fans can do our bit in the coming weeks we need the players to play with pride and never give up as as pauls says in this article they are playing for a team next season if not in our team.
Its over to Paul to try and get the players to have the confidence to play like they did against Sheffield, how can ythey play like that one week and then the next like we witnessed at Barrow.
FOr what its worth Id throw a couple of our reserve side in V Donny, as they will give 100% and theyve nothing to lose and everything to gain.'" pr will have them playing his way which is nothing like how the reserves play

| To fully respect Alex Murphy you need to fully understand how good he was as a player and a coach.
How many of our lads were even born when he was the best in the world, let alone saw him play or coach?
Do players react to being bawled and shouted at now? I don't know, I'd be suprised if they did.
We're talking about arguably the best scrum half ever to play the game but I think he'd just come across as an angry old man to many of the players.

| He wouldn't allow anyone to think of him as an angry old man! In reaction to being asked if he thought murph was gobby, it was Vince Karalius who said, " I don't mind good 'uns having a gob on them, and he's the best." To have the respect of someone so respected, decorated and feared within the game himself, how could our current crop of players, or coaches for that matter give Murph anything but respect, and heed whatever he had to say to them?!

I always feel I'm letting someone down if I don't obtain reaction, I suppose it's what you are comfortable with.'"
Well reading your match report Dave you do highlight a couple of things that have concerned me.
Arguably the smallest man on the field pushes off a Leigh Prop like he wasn,t there ? A winger gets beaten far too easily Why bother naming them ? There,s no need. Those of us who go know those that used to go know, those that gave up years ago because the club never sent anyone round to watch them when they were crap know, the coaching staff know.
To be fair they are serial bad defenders there are others who have bad games and players should watch the DVD and realise why you should not turn your back on the opposition when the opposition have the ball.
I expect PR has being doing this after practically every game this season when he,s not discussing the following weeks game plan.

And why then do certain players who are guilty of this get a new contract?

| If Murph did get the chance to adress the players prior to a game, he'd make Paul Cullen sound like a mute! As a player, Murph has no equal and coaching was natural to him also. It would be unfair to compare Paul Rowley to him however, its sad to know Murph is at the club and his wisdom and encouragement cant be utilised! Thirty five years after Murph finnished playing he is still remebered by those who saw him play, both here and, in Australia. I've never seen a better Scrum Half or inspirational Rugby League personality.

| Murph would be the first to tell you that his coaching days are over but the will to win never goes away. Anyone who's ever watched a game with Murph will know that it's like sitting with The Oracle. He still knows the game inside out - and the personalities of the opposition. I don't think he'd ever want to step on anyone's toes but it does seem such a waste not to utilise his knowledge and experience in some capacity.
It's a bit like Sir Alex Ferguson coming to watch Genesis and no one bothering to ask him what he thinks he could do to improve matters. Such a waste in my opinion.
