Quote: harrishawk "Peawapp. you are quite right the Warrington Safety team did indeed do a fantastic job. but your criticism of the LSV stewards is uncalled for, all of it born out of ignorance.

Fact.. the Fire alarm activated at the very first Leigh v Wigan fixture, but for the actions of the trained stewards and the LSV safety team a FULL evacuation of the stadium was averted. The incident was dealt with in a very professional manner and not one of the 6800 spectators had any idea that emergency procedures had been initiated. I steward at a super league stadium and yes its a very difficult position, so cut them some slack. i can assure you that when you attend the LSV with your (paid for) season ticket you are in very capable hands.

No they didn't , it was a total overreaction to a minor incident , since when does steel and concrete burn ?

Spot on, they could have caused a tragedy the way it was handled. Everybody get out as fast as they can wasn't what they should have been telling everyone.something they need to look at.

Smoke kills in seconds though, much better an over reaction than a dumbing down of a situation...........Smoke inhalation is not an experience I would want again.

I didn't criticise the Stewards I merely said I hope they were taking note that isn't criticism I am beginning to think that you and the other guy who insists on getting my name wrong are becoming quite paranoid I really do icon_lol.gif

If anybody bothered listening to the official line, it was that due to the stench of the smoke, toilets and concessions in that stand had been closed, therefore closing the stand by rights.

The health and safety of the supporters and Stadiums staff is always paramount, and after liaising with the fire service, police and Sky, they would have all made a joint decision.

That was obviously an Evac of that stand, as a precaution.

I wonder if they would have replayed it at Leigh if it had been abandoned?

Anyhow, I'm off to polish my Jack boots. Ready for the 4-5000 fickle leythers that will attend tonight's blackburn v un i-ed reserves match...

See ya all there...
Oh an peewap/lally, the North Stand won't be open tonight pal!

I"m not the one who should be paranoid, let's say...

this isn't a criticism but upon reflection it's probably a good job it wasn't played at Leigh, because if we'd had have to have been evacuated we'd all still be wandering around the pitch yet icon_wink.gif

I suppose then they would have had to let everyone into the replay with.......................FREE TICKETS icon_rolleyes.gif ............... icon_smile.gif icon_smile.gif icon_smile.gif..............and irrespective of if you agree with Dave's opinions or not he does take the position seriously and I'm sure does his best at all times, unlike many who go through the motions but are always on hand to pick up their "wage".......close season eh .......last year it was MY fault we got "relegated " now its steward bashing time.....try looking at some people at the LSV who are picking up 30k plus per year and display an attitude of total "don't give a toss" icon_sad.gif

cant disagree with comments but i also feel that that Halifax species appeared to behave in a dignified manner except one silly female who all but ruined the commentators report on the situation (yes dear we all saw you). well done to the fax and rovers for a very exciting game whether we like the result or not.

Without having a pick at the 'Excellent Warrington Stewards', but the question the SO will ask was, which steward was it that failed to notice an unlocked store room on his Risk Assessment?
The blame then falls firmly on that Stewards Supervisor, for not making sure their Stewards have Carried out a proper risk Assessment, need I go on?
