| Hello, long time lurker, first time poster.
I personally thought that was the worst we'd played since our visit to London.
But as we actually lost that one so maybe that can be seen as a positive from todays result.
That results seems to have given Bradford confidence (or at least forum posters), but there are 6 other teams and we know how we play when we are in top gear.
I'd also like to single out Greg Worthington for his performace today (along with Hock and Higham).

We seemed undercooked throughout the game and lacked our usual high intensity. Maybe the realisation that we didn't "need" to win the game by the players had an effect on the performance. All in all, not the usual performance from the lads.

Welcome
Worthington's improving week by week. As are lots of players under the obviously excellent coaching at Leigh.

| Quote: Alan "Gregg's tackling has been something of a disappointment lately, for me - starting with the Warrington game. We seem to have seen quite a lot of him 'flapping' his arm at an opponent who sails past him.
That said, his positional play for kicks, and his devastating attacking play do tend to make up for any tackling frailties!
He wouldn't half be a complete player, if he could tighten up that tackling though!'"
I totally agree Alan , there's nowt wrong with his positional play or his link and back up when we are attacking,as you say it's the flaying arm instead of making the tackle.

Greggs 11stone wet through. He is renowned throughout RL for his lack of size in defence. That's not the reason he's in the team. I'd rather have him in the side than against us!

| As many have said the draw was fair. We were very poor in defence today & Bradford played a good attacking game, they were very good at offloading the ball and passing it about to isolate players. Still 1st 15min of 2nd half we played very well, shame we didn't seem to click 1st half and didn't carry on that domiance (or wern't allowed to) for longer in the 2nd. Both teams looked like they'd much rather attack than defend though. Still, a draw at Odsal you'd always take & one hand on the League Leaders' sheild now so can't complain. We can play better though but if Bradford play like that & Salford continue in free fall could be 2 of us going up (& how good would that be for SL attendances, to loose Wakey and Salford and gain Leigh and Bradford).
Still slightly staggerd James "mind of a" Child is in a job, after pulling everything up for messing about in the tackle on Thursday he let everything go today, we seem to have gone for being near your own player being obstruction to being able to run behind every set. Still Barlow was lucky not to be sin binned so he was fairly poor all round as a ref.

It would be so much better. Your away support today was fantastic and the attendance of 9181 really does show a lot of the Super League teams up.

| The Leigh players who missed tackles today' those who dropped the ball in the tackle' those who missed high kicks' they all know.
We still scored 6 tries despite us not being at our best.We should play our strongest available team every game and that's how it should be with a full time team.
Lets get back to what we know we are capable of for the rest of the season. I think we will.
PR and the lads will be aware of our shortcomings today.

Leigh were off today, mostly, and especially in defence, but still had enough to draw and could possibly have won it if they'd tried a tad earlier for a drop goal.
JP, Higham and Hock stood out for me. Hock is looking like a class act now and will be massive for us come the 8's.
Defensively we were very, very soft throughout. I love Ryan Brierley - and I would never expect him to even try and put an opponent on their backside on his own - but for all the lad is quality going forward, his defensive capabilities need to reach at least a basic level.'"
Cheers Ant,
You wouldn't believe how down I have been about not being able to attend.
Regards Brierley, offensively he is a Superstar, stand next to him though & he doesn't look like he could tackle in a football match, such is his physique.
For me Ryan needs to be put on a size programme by the conditioner, along with Greg Mc, even if it costs a tiny fraction of pace.
Overall, for Championship RL I think we have the right balance of pace & size in the squad, but should we be fortunate enough to gain promotion then I feel we will have to add some size to compete in SL.

| Just watched the highlights on LCTV.
I actually think we did remarkably well to come back from 8 points behind in that 2nd half considering the lack of any decent field position compared to Bradford who must have started a dozen sets in our half due to pens and knock ons.
Of our 2nd half tries 3 came from the half way line, our own 25m line and a full length effort (interception).
Did the best with the limited chances we had. Can't hand over that much soft possession in the 8's though. A SL team (or even Bradford with Gaskell) would punish us for it.
Definitely a case of a few flashes of brilliance (Higham and Hock) bailing us out from a hell of a lot of mistakes.

| Quote: Nozzy "Was very little intensity today. Felt like a training session and we turned over the ball cheaply all game. We were so sloppy every time we went ahead we threw away any momentum almost immediately with an error or a penalty.
2nd half I don't think Bradford made an error (apart from the intercept) for the first 37 minutes and I don't think we received a single penalty in whole of the 2nd half either. Everything was sticking for Bradford and our repeated knock ons and penalties meant they dominated the territory and possession.
So with all that in mind we did well to overturn an 8 point half time deficit and could have stolen the 2 points with a better drop goal attempt.
We are now effectively in 'pre-season' for the middle 8's and that's how we seemed to play. 36 - 36 says it all. Hopefully we get that sort of error strewn performance out of the way before the big games start.
Poor performance, decent enough result.
Hock and especially Higham were fantastic.'"
Hear hear Nozzy, agree with every word
Thowt we should have won it missel, and not with a last minute drop goal either.
First half reminded me of first half last week v Fev, very patchy, First 15 mins of 2nd half we were brilliant, but then we invited Bratfut back into it with stone cold knock ons, forward passes, lazy defence and especially penalties (nobody can tell me we don't have poor discipline) including one when we had the ball. There's a time for high risk/high reward rugby and a time for five drives and a kick.
Also agree with others re McNally's defence - the way Addy went past him so easy was embarrassing.
Was glad of the draw in the end - the way Shaw was kicking I expected him to nail that last conversion and sink us by 2 points.

| How many times has McNally saved tries against one and one breakaways where he has tackled the Opposition? It's numerous I can tell you and I am sure PR would aswell. In that situation the player with the ball in his hand is ALWAYS favourite. He's saved more than he has let through. That'll do for me.Keep up the great work Greg, best full back we've had in yonks. That position is almost a thankless job and nowhere else are you exposed as you are at full back.

As one who is critical of his defence, (sometimes) I can personally vouch for what you say about how exposed the full back is! It's probably fair to say that someone else has already missed a tackle, before the full back is forced into defensive action.
I would also re-iterate that Gregg is probably involved in more tries we score, than any other player in the team, and that's what we have been paying our cash to see - champagne attacking rugby.
I wouldn't replace him with anyone else.
Please keep up the good work Gregg.................................but maybe work a bit more on the tackling!

At least you didn't have to endure all the steps at Odsal. Give me the LSV any day of the week!!
And, for me, it's more a case of poor tackling technique (mainly) and attitude regarding Brierley's defence.
