Typical Rowley team performance and we fell for it, we knew what to expect and whether it be the coaching or the players themselves we got done.

Positives, Hall looks very good, Vaivai is going to take some stopping and Acton didn't take the bait

DB told us we were getting 17 SL & NRL players today, but as a team they looked far from that

Looked a lot like last seasons ill disciplined and one dimensional to me - like it or not the coaching team have put themselves under a lot of pressure

Could see this happening first game up against a team that has been winning all previous season. Whilst we have so many new recruits. Could take half a season for us to start gelling. Would have been happier if we had kept more from last season to keep some identity, hoppy, AJ and Cory will do great for Toronto as will Riddy at Feath, teams need a memory of winning together. We have had this over the last few years but this new group will have to find it again. Positives VaiVai, Hall, negatives lack of smooth attacking patterns and no kicking game.

There was poor leadership and direction from 6,7 and 9 throughout the game. We were continually losing the floor in the tackle, hence why Toronto got quicker PTB's. Their receivers were always on the front foot at the PTB because we weren't getting them on their backs, and on some occasions not even getting them to ground before the Ref called held.
Derek has said that this squad of players is better than last years'. Time will tell if his assertion is correct. However, today was a humbling for many reputations out there today.
Toronto deserved their win today because they played as a team. We didn't.

I also agree, wouldn't happen with a better ref and he also knew that. The grunt interchange also killed us Sidlow/Buchanan v Patrick/Mason was a non contest. Patterson also wiped the floor with Thompson B

God we must be unlucky with refs, must have got the bad ones most of last year as well

Yes the ref. caned us, but if players won't roll away at the ptb, what's he supposed to do? Especially as they had a player in Beswick, to exploit our indiscipline there. Why don't we possess someone with Beswick's nous to do likewise?

I too thought Mason was impressive - he was certainly targeted by Toronto, when he came on. I don't necessarily feel that prop was our problem.

Absolutely gutted with the result, but with 19 new players in a squad of 27 its going to take time to gel. Toronto was always going to be a very difficult test first game up. After the first 10 mins they seemed to have all the ideas and bags of pace - 34 unanswered points! When was the last time that happened in a championship game at the LSV? We need to get our act together quick because Featherstone, London, Toulouse & Halifax could all cause us serious problems. Lose more than about 7 games and we probably won't make the top 4.
I think the squad is good enough, but at the moment we lack an on field leader, our kicking game & discipline are poor and we don't have much pace.
Not sure about Reynolds as he shows no nous, after a year in SL he should be improving!
Of the new signings so far I like Hutchinson, VaiVai and Mata'utia but not sure about B Thompson and K Lovett.
Lets hope this bad result give them a massive wake up call and we give a decent display against Batley on Sunday.

Why did we release so many players from last season's squad ?? Widnes finished below us in the table, yet only released 2 players from their squad. Yes we were relegated (in a one off game) but still find it incredible, that a team that put 50 past Wigan, beat Saints & Warrington, Huddersfield 30-0, & Salford 25-0 was 'culled' like it was ! Well done Cunningham.....any chance you fancy coaching again (i,e, Feck off, and spoil some other club

maybe some players were on big contracts and the club thought the players wernt worth the money they was paying them and getting relegated gave the club a chance to get rid of the big contracts,plus who's saying the club didn't offer some players a contract but because they were big contracts last time wouldn't take a pay cut so they turned down Leighs offer and left
