High completion rate. Great discipline. ( I think one penalty all game. ) I was worried when I saw the team, but best team performance all year. Hopefully carry on for rest of qualifers.

Not far off being the perfect match from Leigh.

I have only seen Leigh on tv this season and would say, from what I've seen and heard, that this might just be their best overall peformance by far.

From a neutrals point of view it was a boring match, Catalan are a poor side at the moment, there's clearly some unrest in the camp, Leigh performed better than last week, but faced a worst side imo, thought Reynolds had a decent game, the Aussies were in and out, think the Leigh who won promotion were a better side than this season! You've got a chance against Wire, their score line flattered them! I think Leigh will be safe as other teams are slightly worse...good luck for the rest of the middles...

The Leigh that played so well against Wire, Wigan, Hull, Catalan, Huddersfield would have beat our promotion team comfortably. We have been close in 90% of games played this season and could have actually made the top 8. I'll take 4 'boring' wins to finish the season.

I like to write the occasional letter to the Rugby Press when I feel its warranted and, Garry Schofield's assessment of our season certainly deserves a response!
Garry was a very good player however, as a Coach he was like a lot of former players, USELESS!!
Schofield has said,(like you) that the team of 2016 would have performed better He criticises the signing of Glen Stewart although at the time we signed Glen, Schofield heralded his capture as a 'coup'
I think there are 11 former Leigh players at Toronto and at least 8 of them regularly play. in their qualifiers they have lost at York and drawn at Keighley does that kind of performance compare to the victories we have achieved this season without those stalwarts?

I can see it having been 'boring' to a neutral - much like so many SL games these days! In other words, we performed more like a Super League team, defending powerfully, to sicken the opposition, and then attacking with minimal risk. What hasn't been mentioned by either those in praise of the win, or those who found it 'boring', is that we actually had FOUR other touchdowns chalked off by the video referee - so the score could have reached a rather 'boring' 50!(not criticising the VR - just saying that things could have been a whole lot worse for Catalans!)

I'll take performances like that, in the next four games, and wager that our next four opponents would find us difficult to overcome.

It was probably the most comfortable game we'll have in the 8s. I think we were as good as they were bad.

If you're going to be harsh you could say we can't be as wasteful with our chances when we play Widnes, and was shouting for a drop goal when it was 24-0 with 20 left, as would just make life easier, and also good to be able to nail your drop goals when it comes to play offs.

Hopefully we can keep this form going, and not go back to performances like last week, as next game is almost a 3rd/4th place play off. As for whether this year's team is better than last, would probably go with last year's but only because we're missing Hock, Acton, Weston and Crooks.

Can't really see. HKR Widnes and even Wire going through without a loss, so points difference could be crucial

Widnes already have lost one Steve, and just look at HKR's points difference - just +13, despite winning all three of their games so far. Mind you, if they win all seven, by 4/5 points, it won't matter. I can see them having a tough time against Warrington and Widnes.

Just saying, IMO it was a boring game, having just watched Wire and Fax before and the game against KR was more entertaining for me! IMO Leigh were a better side last season, it's going to be close as to who ends up in SL with KR throwing a spanner into the works!

How can you compare 2016 to 2017? Both are totally different scenarios with different objectives and different leagues. The 2015 squad was entertaining but imploded come crunch time.

2016 regular season (Championship) was poor but adequate,as prep was for the middle 8's and saw Leigh promoted.

2017 regular season (Super League) has seen a squad holding their own and competing.Would the 2016 squad been able to do that?
