| Quote: Vancouver Leyther "I wish the club well and hope that they inspire a new generation of North American Rugby League players (my son included). I am however naffed at the apparent cloak and dagger recruitment style.'"
Similar to how I feel.
I [iwant[/i to like them. I am generally in favour of expansion. But they are making themselves very difficult to like with the way they have started out, especially since they seem to be 'targeting' Leigh.
I'd say it would be slightly naive to suggest Rowley didn't already have the Toronto job lined up when he walked out on the eve of the season. Certainly the rumours of him going there started almost straight away as did suggestions that he was tapping up certain players and staff. Kay and Beswick were the main two mentioned, way before the May deadline.
Rowley came out and denied any knowledge of a deal with Toronto, then promptly became the head coach of Toronto! Then it turns out Kay HAS signed for them and I fully expect Beswick and a fair few others to follow. As well as them taking Simon Finnegan just to really disrupt our coaching team.
So I quite like the idea of a Toronto team... just not this Toronto team, who IMO are going about things in a very under handed way.

| Investment is coming into it now Heineken I think on board. One thing they don't want is bad publicity,so I don't really understand for the sake of a transfer fee why they need to jeopardise that.Believe Laithwaite had another 12 months to go on his contract.
Should have signed them up in a professional manner, not something people will turn a blind eye to. The RFL will, but fans and clubs won't. Potentially here for three years, friends are required not enemies.

If they've got Heineken as an investor, they've achieved in a few months what the RFL / SL haven't managed for decades!

| They predict they will crowds of over 8000 so imo it can be a good thing
However, I have heard that they will have their home and away games in runs of 5 or 6 so the players won't have to travel as much
This would be unfair as teams traveling to canada will have to go there and back in a week so they should have to do the same

| The sport has come a long way since Kent Invicta.
Obvious home advantage to Toronto doesnt make for a good competition

| Would hope if Toronto (and Toulouse) get into the eights there are no special favours on home and away dates. I feel sorry for these players who are jumping ship they'll be discarded and replaced by SL quality players if the Toronto Morals get to the eights.

You feel sorry for the rats that jump ship? The good ship Leythe may or may not go up but it ain't going down and even were it to do so, Bob B especially, surely even former captains are supposed to go down with it!

Good for their coffers then. I wonder how many they'll bring on their travels?
Last time Toulouse were with us, in the Championship, they were a failure, finishing bottom, or very near to it. I believe they were fancying a franchise into SL at the time, and the feeling appeared to be in favour of having two French teams in SL. They obviously didn't have the stomach to earn their place there. However, they may take it seriously, this time.

| Why no slagging off? The concept is ridiculous. Another waste of time and money, no matter wnhat the RFL will have you believe. Get the game stable and vibrant in its heartlands. Up The Fax.

Totally agree (apart from the last bit ) Yet to see evidence of any plan of how this could lead to an increase in funding or participation in the game in Britain.
