| The atmosphere was truely superb on Friday night and the North Stand looked great from were I was sat(West Stand South). I've always liked the LSV and I think its is an outstanding venue and the larger the crowd the better it is!. Hilton Park in the 1950s - 60s did used to rock and, when Wi@@n were in town the noise was deafening! There was nearly always 20000 plus crowds when we played 'them'! I used to live the other side of Marsh Playing field as kid, and, my Mother always said the it sounded like the crowd were in our garden!

| the L.S.V, is a cold and impersonal place ,I much prefer Hilton park, but that having been said Fridays atmosphere was phenomenal. it will doubtless not be repeated on Sunday when all the bandwagon men have fallen off the bandwagon and we will be back to our usual 1400-1600.

| Hilton Park was great and memorable but times have moved on and LSV is now our home. Friday's atmosphere and game was fantastic and felt like Blackpool last year but without the rain and the score did not justify how well the lads played.
OK you will always get those who turn up every blue moon at a cup game or a final which is a shame as they are missing out on watching the rugby as well as contributiing to vital funds for the club. I am not sure what has gone on behind the scenes after reading several comments on other threads but please get behind the Club for the sake of the loyal fans and for the children of the town who are our future - Proud to be a Leyther.

| Hilton Park was our home its now the LSV , atmosphere at the LSV isn't always brilliant for league games as its very hard to keep things going without any away support in a half empty stadium - that said its something as fans we need to do and if we do it will attract more in.
Would be great if we could put the away fans in the South stand each game (maybe shut off part of the north stand with taping like they do at football and move some stewards / bar staff from that area across ?).
I realise there could be a cost but I'm not sure if we closed off the extreme left side of the North Stand and opened the middle of the South stand that we would lose too much money (if any), maybe one for the forum for those that can go to ask ?

Believe it would cost more, when bearing in mind for league games quite often there's only one refreshment kiosk in the North. I think having away fans in the North would help the atmosphere more than having a few dozen of them in the South Stand, I'm sure. It's just a case of encouraging them to travel and stand together.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

| Atmosphere requires people, so every effort should be made to get as many people as possible into all games by whatever means you have at your disposal, even if it involves an element of risk, friday night showed what life at the LSV could be like all the time, providing the effort is made, doing nothing results in nothing changing

| I stopped posting a while back because I'm so far removed from what's going on in Leigh these days. However, I've probably got a bit of grace after Friday night, so, for what it's worth, I can see how attractive a summer Friday night game could be. My own "best" memories from Hilton Park are of games under floodlights - v St Helens in the 1981 Lancashire Cup sticks out - because I feel it adds to the atmosphere. My kids have absolutely no experience of Rugby League other than what they see on Friday nights when I am allowed my quota of the Sky subscription, and they absolutely loved the real deal. I expect there must be a lot of people who have moved into the Leigh area who have no RL background, and based on my experience on Friday, these are people who can be persuaded that it's worth going along to the LSV. Maybe there needs to be a more "expansionist" (sorry) attitude in and around Leigh towards the people who haven't been brought up with Rugby League, as well as those who are aware of the traditions or are involved in the amateur scene?

You'll not be surprised to hear I disagree LSV is my winner.
As someone who stood around the 20m line up from the Scoreboard, in the Pizzing rain on too many an occasion, I can assure you I had loads of cold wet dismal days and nights at HP.

| +1 for LSV.
Better acoustics, better facilities. Just not had many big matches there yet. On Friday, the place was rocking!
