Onwards and upwards - LTID:

Quote: Starbug "The club have the capacity to get the message out

They have available to them a large exhibition type trailer that could [ if asked and permission granted ] be placed in the town centre,Asda, retail park having special offers available where they can be taken up instantly , this combined with the 12 ft X 6 ft A frame advertising trailer that they also have free access to being towed round town , Asda , retail centre car park [ personnaly I'd suggest towed by one of those ' Boom ' trikes with Dave armitstead in a santa suit riding it ] would give them the neccessary profile

So why dont they do it ?'"

You've been on about this for yonks, with your association with the club they must know of your offer. Really, really can't understand why this opportunity hasn't been taken up. It seems like a no-brainer to me - or are there a lot of costs/resource involved that I can't see icon_confused.gif icon_confused.gif icon_confused.gif icon_confused.gif

Very frustrating Ste, I know AT has done more than enough to give us a team / coach to be proud of but what do the other guys do? Surely one of them can spare an hour or two to discuss this sort of thing with yourself & others.

Why??

I've said this a few times about different things people on here come up with great ideas but if someone from the club only comes on here once per week or whatever they might miss suggestions like this, people need to suggest the ideas to the club, people have a go at the club for assuming people will turn up but were assuming they read this and will use the ideas.

I've got a better idea.
Pay someone £6 an hour to put a flyer under the windscreen wiper of every car on asda car park on a saturday morning. Why bother going all round the houses when you'll have constant access to nearly every family in Leigh with this method.
Sure it looks a bit tacky, but if no one knows, no one turns up.

Wastes no ones time other than the printer and the kid being paid minimum wage.

maybe the flyers in the actual building (allthough im not 100% sure what legal rule it would be breaking as long as it doesnt show any favour to a n other party)
how about a poster comp in the schools that will be used as polling stations, top 3 winners and class posters to be displayed in the corridor/room that just so happens to be used for voting? would that get passed the legal issue as it could be classed as a school project?

cant be illegal to park the said trailor on the road as long as it doesnt break any road rules.

it was just a thinking outside of the box idea to target people who may not see the official website papers etc, just thought it was a good way to get any message out to the masses for little cost.

Just by being there it immediately 'causes an obstruction' and please dont quote parking outside your own home etc... as all vehicles parked on a road is an obstruction and there is case law to that effect.

As for polling stations there was/is (havent looked for a long while) of do's and don'ts and im near sure posters were on it, I once had a tory prospective canditates agent complain to me because the decor in the room used in a school was predominately yellow (I did point out that it was spring and I hadn't seen many blue daffodils about - she wasn't pleased), she was trying to say it would subconciously intice people to vote Liberal (as they were then), I did point out that it was spring and I hadn't seen many blue daffodils about - she wasn't pleased, and a labour one complain because the official in charge of the polling station was wearing a blue tie, so I couldnt see any body allowing any predominated coloured posters, its a legal minefield and well left alone as the fines can be horrendous.
Plus the elections are a month away have you ever tried to get a jnr school to change tac on the national ciriculum at such short notice - I have and failed miserably.
Not trying to pour cold water on ideas but they need thinking out

With her thinking like that and her lack of humour I expect she is now in the Shadow Cabinet.

Back on thread I have just had a call from a mate.He can,t miss his Leyther fix for 2 weeks so him and another are booking flights for the Limoux game. Maybe our next game at the LSV will have a much improved attendance on last seasons fixture.

Given the number of people who don't bother voting and the fact that under eighteens can't vote I doubt the wisdom of using Polling Stations as a marketing tool.

It's good idea Starbug, but maybe not the clubs. icon_wink.gif A few of our friends who used to support Leigh on a regular basis are starting to come back on a select basis. One of them commented at one game , "that you wouldn't have known a game was being played in Leigh." Not everyone lives on the internet and the way the team is playing deserves a higher profile.

Things are improving both on and off the field and maybe the club will start to listen to your ideas to get more people to attend the games.

Mines a pint... 'Hi-Ho Silver Lining' Headingley 05th October 2014.:1392.gif

We have Robbie Paul, one of the biggest "known faces" in our sport, well respected - get him on board with sorting out the Junior Centurions club , involve it as a family deal with a fantastic matchday experience for familys to meet up.
Imagine, 2 'Mums' meeting up for a natter / brew at the match whilst the kids meet there (injured) RL hero's who signs there recently purchased programme or there recently purchased Leigh top whilst 'Dads' have a pint in the bar (having got there early 'to make a day of it')- spend, spend , spend.

We have Ian Millward, one of the best "known faces" in our sport, 'man of the fan' - get him on board to attract the 14 - 25year olds in, get them in the bars, get them involved in club nights / race nights, get him into the amateur club circuit, well liked "tells it how its is", the man is a marketing gold mine, like Robbie.

Yet v Batley we had the RFL "arranged" offer (and it was a good one) of 25quid, how many people in Leigh knew - or worse how many people cared icon_confused.gif:

Leigh have to do better than now, the players and coaching staff are doing the best selling of the lot by playing attractive RL that gets results, a push in the off field stakes is long long overdue, starting with familys and the Children as a major priority.

As I've posted before the club needs a minimum of 4 or 5 voulunteer's to help run the Kids club on matchdays, pm me if your interested.

As for them getting involved in the amateur club circuit that is what the launch of the Amateur club forum was all about at the Barrow game.
