I had just come on to ask whether such a thing is available. I've been guilty of making excuses this year, especially for televised games. If I had a five match ticket it would make me more likely to head up.

| I raised this question at the volunteers evening a couple of months ago, as I'd always thought it was a good idea; however Mike Norris explained to me (and the rest of the room) that it doesn't make very good business sense to sell a 5 match book. He went into quite a bit of detail in his explanation and when he'd finished I sort of agreed with him.

Good business sense is to give your customers what they want, or what makes attending games easier

They've managed to do it for next season but it includes LCTV subscription and replica shirt neither of which I need

| Yes Rob, I pointed out that a lot of folk are in the same boat and wanted to just buy the tickets.
I don't want to give the explanation because I might get some of it wrong. I'd rather let those who know more than me explain.

I can't remember Mikes exact explanation if I'm honest but there are two hats to be worn here. The sales man in me wants to say let's do the five match book but the businessman hat tells you we could be robbing Peter to pay Paul or worse still promoting something that could potentially have an adverse effect on cash flow for the business so I think that's what Mike may have eluded to in the meeting Mish refers to.
Before I'm shot down as a business it's important to understand that income from season ticket sales is vital to cash flow in the closed season as we still have staff and players to pay.
If for arguments sake we normally sell 300/400 STs at 160/180 each and 200 of those decide instead to buy a five match book at 50 quid we have a serious hole in cash flow.
While I like the concept of the five match book and understand everything everyone has written and they are valid points simple fact is our finance man has to make the numbers work and sometimes needs to make decisions that may not please everyone for the greater good of the club.
Hope this helps.
Andy

| Every decision in business has some element of risk, as far as I know only 1 accountant has ever started and built a business, that was Mr Barratt of Barratt Homes, when after building his own house decided he could make more money doing that than counting other peoples money
So yes there are a few people who could decide to purchase their tickets in small portions rather than in bulk, but there are other people who might decide that rather than having to go early and queue up in the rain ,they wont bother going at all
All about the risk

100% agree Steve and at some point we will have to speculate but fact is season ticket revenue right now is very important for the club and Our Finance Directors job is to govern this club strongly and that's what he does and does well.
Derek has gone on record about the brand of RL we aim to play and it's my belief that we have the right coach and staff to deliver what the fans expect so hopefully with the marketing we have planed in the coming few weeks leading into Xmas and through January the take up on STs will increase and surpas expectations with people buying into not just what Derek, Paul and the team are doing but the vision we have for Leigh Centurions as a club.

| On balance I agree with Mike Norris.
It will be about performance wether folk turn up or not and after all we have 13 league games.
The moment folk hear promotion and relegation is back EVERY clubs gates should increase imo.

| Can understand all sides of the argument in the 5 game ST.
I'd always prefer money banked in advance as if Leigh play rubbish, move fixtures, the weathers bad or Mike Nolan comes on the board (etc, etc and umpteen others) it could all provide a reason for people to spend that money 'set aside for the rugby' elsewhere.
I suppose though a budget is in place and I'd rather the club risk losing a few fans for a few games than risk the overall business plan.
Hopefully if we build and start to become the place to be on a Sunday again these kind of offers could help catch those not wanting or able to commit to a full ST just yet (maybe call it a 'taster ST' or suchlike) especially if we have fixtures released like we have at the moment with TBC pending various outside factors.

| To clarify, I agree it should be considered for next seAson when we will have this years experience to call upon, I sit in the sales camp of choice is good but understand the cash flow risk which makes the purchase of STs so vital at this time of year and thank those who have taken the plunge or will be doing so shortly
1000 season tickets sold early bird to be paid over 5 months commencing sept 2014 would solve that conundrum though

Some interesting points on both sides of the argument, thanks. May I suggest you take a look at Warrington's six game ticket which has games split into three categories. Not sure how successful it has been to be honest but might give some ideas for the future.

| Not quite sure how the risk of selling a 5 game ticket with add-on’s, is any different than pricing one without the add-on’s?
I would have probably bought two 5 game tickets by now without the add-on’s, but in the meantime I’m still awaiting the resolution of the fixture list to see if a full season ticket is worth it.
