Today was almost an exact reversal of our meeting with KR last season. They are flying high in the Championship, and have the resulting confidence. We are struggling in SL, and have the resulting lack of confidence.

Somehow the coaching team and players need to get back to the defensive commitment and skill, shown against Saints, Huddersfield, Salford and Warrington - and even at Wigan.

For my money, the major problem lies in attack. Scores of 6; 10; and 10, in our last three games, tells a story. We seem totally incapable of exerting any pressure at all, inside our opponents' 20 metre area. The number of times we dropped the ball, passed it to the opposition, chucked it forward, and conceded penalties in possession in that area, beggars belief. We need to be able to control play, on attack, and build up pressure on the opposition, who are having it easy, on defence.

How we cope with what appears to be a serious lack of pace, won't be easy to solve though!

P.S. We seem to play much better at night!! icon_wink.gif

Hi guys hope you lot are well......great win for us today with both teams missing a few.
Hopefully we can both enjoy our seasons and if we meet come end of season then so be it.
We both know the aim of this season and winning the Challenge Cup isn't it.
Best wishes for the rest of the year.

PAC.

Last season was a disaster for us losing at home to Oldham in the cup getting relegated but we did go to Cas and Wakefield and put 50pts on both of them from what I've seen of you this season you've been pretty competitive so I don't think there's any need for the doom and gloom

Both teams were somewhat less than full strength but Rovers did target this game - only 2 players featured across the whole Easter period and we were able to introduce a raft of our better players, fresh after not featuring on Easter Monday. I think this was a big factor today.

We both move on, next up for you another punishing game at St Helens for us a less daunting home game versus Rochdale. There's the difference ....you must back up better than ever we could field a reserve team and get away with it.

One thing we can tell you is that Super League is unrelenting it's no good thinking we'll be OK when players come back because when one comes back another or even another 2 get injured. Eventually you don't actually have enough fit players to make a team and send out 6 or 7 jabbed up. Rovers were in that situation last season time and again.

You have to hope you arrive at the middle 8's in good health but probably you won't do. More likely you'll have to save your Super League lives whilst being battered, bruised, depleted and jabbed up. If you can do that you've nothing to worry about.

Ever since we played Widnes, something hasn't been right in the Leigh camp. It isn't just down to injuries and suspensions. We had a punishing defence against Saints, Wire and Hudds but now the enthusiasm and working for each other just isn't there. Some players are still giving their all but I just get the feeling something has gone on behind the scenes that we aren't aware of.

Hope they can sort it out quickly or it's going to be another short stay in SL.

Quote: Alan "Obviously you and Centurino weren't there. That was the way it appeared on the printed team sheet in the bar, but I can tell you that Reynolds played full back, for the full 80, as did Ridyard at stand off.'"

"Obviously", referencing a comment who evidently had been at the game. "Disappointed" that the LCTV sub isn't a great investment this year for games out of reach such as this one. Thanks for the generalisation.

I do maintain Neil Jukes is feeling under incredible pressure right now for a multitude of reasons. A good win is required ASAP.

Quote: mr. chairman "neil i'll not be under stress , he knows what he as to do he will deflect the stress from the players and throw it away , neil is a thinker and does not make bad choices . derek is the one under stress as it's his money and he is going to have to spend a lot more and if it doesn't work he will run again and blame everyone else like last time'"

Neil will be under stress. Like it or not, he is in a results based industry, and his livelihood is on the line each passing game. Results going against you, is stressful. It's one thing "knowing what you have to do" and actually achieving. The idea the "Neil does not make bad choices" is laughable too.

Derek will also be under a lot of stress too. This is his club and currently he is the face of the club. He has, and continues to pour huge sums of money into the club, and like it or not without this cash, we would be languishing at the bottom of the championship.

You seem to have a real complex issue around Derek. All negatives surrounding Leigh are purely Derek's fault, and he doesn't get any recognition for any positives that he is responsible for. He has been a Super League club owner for less than three months. He is learning as much as any of the coaching staff or players are.

Depleted yes, but what a stupid decision to have our main pivot and organiser out of position.

Ridyard defence is poor to boot yet we have 4 competent full backs playing.

I just don't get it and that is not the players fault. It's just stupid!

THAT is a coaching decision.'"

Hi Centurino,

I wasn't 'generalising' at all. I was responding to a specific factual inaccuracy, by Snowy, which you then likened to a similar team selection at Batley. For what it's worth, I completely agree with you on that one, and your first choice of half backs, and the fact that our coach will be under enormous pressure, just like he was after that Batley game. (he will find it much more difficult to salvage the situation this time around) I also agree with you about the slipping standards at LCTV - especially after the recent price hike!

Meanwhile, I still reckon Reynolds played full back, and Ridyard stand off! icon_wink.gif
