You are not wrong, it is what it is. Codswallop.
Team selection is often based on a full week of intense sessions.
Who is giving 100%, who is holding back.. Who is understanding team instructions, who is not. Who is executing the team plays, who is positionally all at sea. Who is understanding the game plan, who is struggling with it?
The coaches will have concluded who has done what when they pick the 19 for game day.

| For the record, Lee Smith was in the 19 who warmed up on the pitch yesterday. So was Tom Spencer. The two players in the original 19, who did not take part in the warm up, were Fuifui Moimoi, and Travis Burns.

Hopefully we'll see a lot more of him next season. It took watching the Salford game back on TV to realise how much work Tonga actually got through. A players work rate can be misjudged when watching live without the benefit of replays (Tickle is a good example of this)
That said, there's no escaping the number of games Tonga has missed. Injuries can't be helped though

| I just don't think WT has lived up to his name regardless of his long term injuries, when he has played (with the exception of Salford at LSV) he has looked very average & not a patch on Greg Worthington who has been a consistent performer.
I hope for Tonga's sake he is over the worst of his injury nightmare & turns a corner.

| If your so sure Harold let us know why hes been missing for so long. Surely hes not lost his understanding of tactics or holding everybody back all of a sudden or not giving 100% in training. Original post is just whats being said. If you know any facts please enlighten

| Not sure what you're getting at Ste,Mcnally is holding his own at fullback,NRL player at and AJ playing out of his skin on the wing.Where would you play him? Pecking order springs to mind.
You could say use him as rotation, but how many times has Dayne Weston missed a game this season? Very hard team to get in at the minute.

I must be watching a different McNally he's been average at best since he come back he is frightened to death of running the ball in. He would get nowhere near the team if I was picking it Lee smith is a proven sl player something Gregg is not.

Smith was in the 19 man squad against London, was 18th man against Hull KR despite not originally being named in the squad and has been in training with the rest of the team all season. Why would he be travelling to Hull and warming up with the team if he was in trouble for demanding extra wages?
Not sure why not picking Lee Smith has to be some huge conspiracy.
Maybe, just maybe, Jukes feels McNally is the better option. Given we are 4 from 4 including 2 massive upsets vs SL sides maybe Jukes knows what he is doing?
I like Smith and would be happy to see him play but McNally is doing well. It's a results business and after 4 matches with McNally at fullback we are now just 80 minutes from Super League, why change that?

McNally is not playing well, he is playing OK but nowhere near his standards of last season. He is competent under the high ball but he has lost the confidence to take on defenders, too often he offloads to a team mate. Smith should be fullback.

Neil Jukes and Paul Cooke have concluded he should not have been. They are judging players on what they do, how they apply themselves every day, not just what you may (or may not have seen) 3 months ago.
As correctly pointed out by Nozzy, we are just one win away from returning this great club back to the higher echelons of Rugby League, on the back of 17 consecutive victories, that should be good enough for everyone but not at Leigh it seems
If the coaching team see something differently this week then I am more than confident they will make the correct team decision once more.
I fully respect we all have opinions but please it's a monumental game this. I would rather we concentrate our efforts to get fully behind the club and ensure we are all celebrating come 4.30pm/5pm Saturday.

| Under Rowley Fui would probably have been asked to play risking him being out for the remainder of the games.......Coaching staff are doing it right IMO whether some fans like it or not

| I like Lee Smith but the purpose of having a large squad is so that players are picked on merit & form & not just lack of bodies.
McNally is much fitter and links both edges/halves up very well whereas Smith is a more off the cuff player.
We are 4 from 4 & playing to a good structure so why the hell would the coaching staff change the team other than injuries?
McNally caught everything on Saturday & his opposite did not which probably led to our win.
Be careful what you wish for as we all remember Rangi dropping everything at FB first game at Batley and what did that get us?
