| Quote: Leyther_Matt "I've been reliably informed that the last time we got anything over even 5-6,000 for a regular season game in the second tier was 7,027 vs Barrow in April 1978'"
Even when we ran away with the leagues in the 80's and Naughties, crowds over 3k were very few and far between.
The only 2 'massive' crowds I remember was an attendace of 12000 at HP against Castleford in 82 (Threw that away and we should have gone to Wembley) and Wigan demolishing us in 87 with just under 13000 on. If I remember, it was a hot sunny day and it was 'dangerously' full and there must have 10k on an hour before kick off.
If the club can stabalise a hardcore of 4k for each round, the worlds our oyster. That will grow with time, and we only averaged 6k in our champioship winning season !

The site of streams of urine flowing down the terraces as the portaloos overflowed was a joy to behold that day - following was well over 3k as we had the terrace to the side and a bit of the stand also'"
Wires have always been my soft spot team away from Leigh, even before Higham & Hill, i suppose they are just a very likeable club compared to some.

I remember that game against the Pies very well.
I reckon at the time the quoted attendance was around 12,500 & when announced everyone around said "Liars" we were convinced that around 15,000 were inside & as you say it was Dangerously Full, overfull for Hilton Park.
It was also a gorgeous hot sunny day like you say, but you couldn't get anywhere near a bar for a cooling pint.

| According to the banter pages on FB there are loads from Bradford who think it'll be easy to get in - keep telling 'em that they'll have to queue at the ticket office but they don't seem to want to listen. Every time you burst one balloon another pops up...don't know how may windows the ticket office has!

| Four windows. They may get in for half time. The problem is that most people want to pay by card so the process is slowed down even more! I hope for their sake they get down early and get their tickets.

Well all you can do is to inform them if they don`t want to listen it`ll be Nuclear fallout on your FB page tomorrow night.
There`s about 4/5 windows at the ticket office, if they arrive late they`ll be in for a long wait.

| Not unheard of for there to be cash turnstiles on visiting stands at the LSV to be fair (as recently as the East Stand for the Wigan game) though there's usually been an announcement by now.

Doesn't that make a nonsense of an all ticket venue?

Pretty much. Without being daft though, there might be slight variations in the turnstile design that means whether or not it's safe and practical to take cash. Certainly wouldn't be the only stadium with such a situation.

| I`ve not got a problem as such, just playing Devils Advocate. I`ve got a ST but you can guarantee that there`ll be a few late arrivals wondering why the same entry is n`t reciprocated for the Leythers?

With the volume of pre sales for tomorrow I think it's more likely to be an issue for 'smaller' games if anything, but I agree with your point entirely.

Suppose we've got several of those now in pubs around Leigh. Have they had to return unsold tickets (few as they may be for tomorrow) or can they carry on selling tickets on match day? Might get a few people, pop down the pub, have a few then decide they might as well join their mates to go to the rugby (discover how fantastic it is and buy a season ticket).

Starbug here again , I spotted Andy P collecting unsolds a couple of days ago LS , I ment a cash only extra ticket office on the corner of the south/east stands similar to the one at Salford taking pressure of the main one , possibly an option for next year , ( I hope )
