The Fac Chairman has stated as much , the RFL approached them and suggested they do that to achieve the required 2,500 average to enable them to qualify to apply for SL

Now why would the RFL do that ? , and then spread rumours belittling Faxs applacation ?

They are probably trying to cover up their deceit by spreading those rumours and I reckon they are not sitting so comfy at this moment in time ,it beggers belief that some people come on this board and defend the RFL actions

There was a Championship Review conducted earlier this season, by the RFL, with the involvement of all Championship clubs. The results of that review are due to be published in September. One of the major suggestions, was to increase the size of the Championship to 14 clubs, and ask for applications from new clubs, to enter Championship One.

Since that review was initiated, we have lost Widnes from the Championship - not necessarily to be replaced by Crusaders - and Toulouse. So, if the proposal was to get the go-ahead, we are lokking at bringing FIVE teams in from Championship One.

Not be much of a competition in Championship 1 then Alan ?

Why do we need to wait till the season is over to hear what they are going to do ? It all just smacks of us being an afterthought

I'll revise my statement there, Steve. The RFL actually said that they would ratify the proposals at an RFL Board Meeting in March 2011. The names of the clubs to be competing in the Championships are to be announced in September.

My memory is hopeless but I don't remember seeing anything, nor can I find reference to, what happened at that RFL Board meeting.

More astoundingly - or perhaps not - clubs don't appear to know, (or Radio Leeds certainly didn't know) how many clubs would be promoted/relegated between the Championship leagues at the end of this season. Mind you, there are still two or three rounds of games left, so perhaps it's a bit early for that particular announcement!

Hand on heart here. Isn't there a tiniest teeniest possibility that he is exagerating the fact? I mean anyone can give out free tickets, can't they? Didn't Salford do something similar against Swinton a few years back? and they did actually get a substancially larger than average crowd.

At the end of the day Fax look to have played the system a bit to desparately tick a box. Hardly being truthful to themselves, to show where they was really at. So going back to what you put earlier....

That is more in reference to the RFL now smearing their application via rumours , if the Fax application was so bad , why didn't the RFL have a quiet word and ask them to re submit

The RFL wanted an extra application for the main event , but they had already published the criteria needed to apply for round 1 , they only had 1 club pass muster , so they used Fax , they dangled a carrot , but did they even bother looking at their application seriously until the Crusaders pulled out at the last minute ?

How desperate must they have been to give the Crusaders until the night before to find an investor ?

Its very important to have clubs challenging for a place in SL. You must see that. Fax clearly didn't have what it took to replace a club with cr@p stadium and recently gone into administration.
Whether they looked at the application matters not as a discussion because they obviously did. You are kicking up a fuss for nothing as usual as long as its having a go at RFL. You are getting like the FORWARD chant from the terraces - they lose their impact after a while when you post same tone all the time.

Why are you focusing on the SL aspect again ?

You believe in Franchising , I don't , no problem , this is not about that

I think a lot probably goes on behind the scenes that doesnt need to be discussed with fellas on a forum. Many chairmen praise the RFL for their involvement but fundamentally its tough in pro sport atm, never mind semi pro sport

Do you think it reasonable that club in the Championshipm and Championship 1 still dont know the make up of the competitions next year , and therefore dont know what they are playing for promotion/relegation wise with 3/4 games to go ?

Also that clubs will shortly be looking to sell next years ST s as Huddersfield are , but once again dont know how many games or who they might be playing against ?

Not easy for the clubs to budget for next season, without knowing how many games they will play, or how far they will have to travel, which league they will be in, how much - if any TV money they will get, etc.
