Im not bitter, however has a team in any other sport ever been relegated when they havent finished in a relegation position?

Got to agree the RL have got it wrong again ! But everyone knew before hand that Toulouse had an exeption .

The question is why did the clubs agree to it ,surely it was'nt a case of well here it is then Toulouse are not getting relegated no matter what hands up all those that go along with this .

Me too. I've prepared myself for relegation for weeks now, and to be honest I'm amazed we got as far as we did. I thought we'd be gone weeks ago.

However, the fact that we've been relegated, having finished above a side that won't be relegated, makes me ed off!

Something to think about from another thread. Toulouse couldn't be relegated, different quota rules for Gateshead and Toulouse. Surely this is no longer a sport, and does not make this fair in the least. This is not because we finished down their, we have finished level on points with two teams and more points than two other teams. Challenge it I say

Feel sorry for you guys, just as I did when Castleford when they were relegated in 2006 when they finished above Catalans. Its shambles the way our sport is run.

Hope Robbie Paul doesnt have a clause in his contract saying he doesnt have to go to Leigh if relegated. He should respect it.

And where were the players likely to come from with pedigrees like Aitken etc at Gateshead

I would imagine the club did think they had done that and probably never imagined that the situation that has now occurred would ever happen to them. How many other clubs vote along the same lines?

There is 9 other clubs in the championship

Also to make the purists happy that don't like the bonus point - had this rule not been in we would have finished below Toulouse, so should make you feel a little better.

Reason I asked was because when Awen Guttenbeil signed for Castleford, he had a clause if they got relegated, but he chose not use it and still came over, despite Cas not been in SL.

....and had Gateshead not been allowed to play to different rules and had the RFL not ignored Donnys plight which allowed Batley to pick up at least two of their better players, then results might have been very different.
