| without wanting to sound condescending, some Leigh fans a few weeks ago were displaying some incredible confidence, or possibly arrogance, regarding their team.
it's one thing bullying and putting the cleaners through amateur teams week in week out it's another matter when it comes to full time professional outfits.
yes you had 2 very good results in the cup and most neutrals probably cheered you in the 3 cup games against SL teams, but then some of your fans got the old arrogant head on and now look very silly,i imagine that they and their boasts will be going into hiding now?
most people apart from Leigh and Bradford fans predicted that the poorer SL sides would have too much for their teams come the 8's but were told that Leigh and Bradford would do to SL teams what they had been doing to amateur teams.
hopefully they can both stir the competition up a bit in the next few weeks?

| We didn't match Salford physically. Surprising?
Salford received 1.8m TVs funding v Leigh's £0.5m. Salford posted a £5m loss. We probably haven't turned over £5m.
But this one is the killer - we've been playing championship level opposition all season. How can we condition our players mentally or physically for the step up?

| Big chance missed last week. Put that game to bed, result this week is less important, as you wouldn't expect to win away to a SL club.
That said, nature of some of the tries was very disappointing. 5 or 6 people walking in untouched. Defence wide has gone to pot. Pownall should be in, and Spencer and / or Acton should come in to give more energy to the pack. How long is Hopkins out for?

| I'm wondering which is the harder defeat to "take" - to lose from a winning position at home or to be steamrollered away?
As for this game, I felt McNally got his try in the 1st half (Higson's and Ryan's far more doubtful) but that is water under the bridge now.
Again many rugby sins were committed but coming back from 22-0 down was always going to be a big ask. We had our purple patch, our attacking play was good but again the defence and the game management are things that need building up.
Next week will be very, very interesting.

| You suffered with exactly what I posted here last week. Which was your ability to play a different game plan and adapt when things don't go your way. Your team is excellent at playing broken-play and 'desperation' RL. Not many better. It's been enough to carry you through the Championship but you'll need to have more brains when up against SL opposition when it counts. Or know how to grind out a result when it matters. It's all a learning curve I suppose and beating SL opposition in the cup earlier in the season probably did you no good in the long run. Winning one-off games can bring a false sense of security under these circumstances and I think you can be forgiven for having high hopes going into the 8's.
I'm sure the last two games will bring lessons for the team and you need to be careful not to drop down the gears when you play other Championship sides. Remembering that they've also learned valuable lessons playing SL opposition. You can't afford a slip-up against fellow Championship opposition if you have designs on that important one-off game.
As for today, Salford are strong at home with a pretty much full strength side in comparison to last time you played us. When Chase performs, it doesn't really matter who plays against us. Your forwards couldn't get the better of Salfords for pretty much the full game, and along with Dobson, Chase managed the game in a better fashion.
Chin-up fellas and lasses. Long way to go yet.

What's really pathetic is coming on here after they have lost to have a gloat. Your existence must be pretty limited if this is how you get your jollies. Off you pop back under your stone and leave these folks in peace

Pretty much spot on for me. Might have been a different game had we scored next at 22-12 but not to be. Pick ourselves up and go again next week.

No, it's that we've spent 2 seasons facing opposition that doesn't challenge us. How can a side improve in that environment?

How many tires did you guys have disallowed? At least 2 of those I thought were tries, I was stood in that corner. Those are awarded and half time is much closer.
Still think our fitness and overall game management sees us through, but the score flatteted us slightly.
Salary cap gives massive advantage needs looking at for next season
Great following as expected, all stayed til the end, respect. Made up with out victory was very worried pre match.
Best of luck for the rest of the qualifiers
