You can sit anywhere apart from the Directors box 'unless a Director invites you of course.'"

| Miners went well. I thought Daryl Kay was outstanding as was Miners number 6. Barrow have disorganised class and for me their best player was number 8 especially second half. Used to be Cattick (I am useless at remembering names) anyways their number 12 but I think whatever his name it will be his last season in the Championship.
Pace counts in this game which is why Barrow won but I am glad I support Leigh. Good following from Barrow too but I doubt Des's rant last week has helped his side.

| Over 600 in attendence.
Scott o'brien and darryl kay were outstanding, but massive raps should go to all the players and the coaching staff - it really was a pleasure to watch the miners yesterday, barrow just couldn't shake them off until the last 20 miniutes or so.
I really should try harder to get down to watch these lads more often.

| Great game i thought and the Miners did the club and Town proud. I thought the main difference was the contact area, Miners just could not slow the play the ball down where Barrow's quick play the balls put to much preassure and the markers and A,B defenders. That a side great effort

| Leigh Miners 26 v 56 Barrow Raiders
Leigh Miners once again did themselves proud against professional opposition yesterday, giving Championship side Barrow Raiders a good run for there money having them rattled and within four points at 26-22 early in the second half before going down 56-26 in a scoreline that flattered the visitors. It looked like it was going to be a long day for miners early on as Barrow raced into a 12-0 lead to put them in control. Miners hit back with a good spell of pressure and got there first try of the game when Scott O'Briens grubber kick found Ross Bradley to score, Tom Bradbury converting to give the score 12-6. Barrow hit back straight away with there third try but with miners refusing to lie down they were soon in for there second try when Scott O'Brien picked up a loose ball to race a good sixty yards to score, Bradbury converting to give the score 16-12 for the visitors. The championship outfit were on the scoresheet for a fourth time as they took advantantage of a miners error to go 20-12 in front. Miners centre Tom Bradbury scored the first of his two tries out in the left corner with about ten minutes of the half remaining and it looked like that would be the half time scoreline of 20-16 to Barrow until the Raiders scored under the sticks on the final play of the half to take a ten point 26-16 half time advantage into the sheds.
The second half started simular to the first with Barrow on top but with miners defending well they kept the visitors out after a good spell of pressure, as the pressure continued a loose Barrow pass was picked up by John Woods who raced down the field finding O'Brien who was tackled ten yards out and with Barrow still tracking back Ryan Smith dived over to score, Bradbury converting to give the score 26-22. From the kick off a miners error in allowing the ball to bounce dead was punished by Barrow as they ran in two quick back to back tries followed by a third a few minutes later to put the scoreline beyond miners at 40-22.With the score now out of reach of the home side they refused to lie down and continued to throw the ball around playing some good attacking rugby and from that Tom Bradbury scored his second try of the game, the score now 40-26 with fifteen minutes to play. Barrow scored three more tries late on as miners tired to give the final score 56-26.
It was a great effort by Miners who gave a very good showing against the Championship side but with speed strength & fitness showing as the game wore on Barrow ran out winners with Jamie Thackray & Zeb Luisi having strong games.
Next week Miners are away to Wath Brow Hornets in the league.
