| Steve, I really dont get your point here, the 1800 or whatever fans in the ground are the real fans. The ones who pay to watch, the ones in the pub or at home by choice are the ones sending the club into oblivion.
I nearly went with 5 or so to go but decided to stay and say goodbye, I do not blame anyone who paid and left early.

| As much as we were disappointed, angry at the person in the middle, let down, and gutted we stayed to clap them off BUT I do understand those that chose not to stay and clap also as for booing i'm sure it was aimed at the ref for his ability to ignore the constant off side from Sheffield from start to finish ,I was convinced Millward would have pointed this out to players and so expected them to move off the line quicker but they didn't .

I left with 90 seconds to go - in your eyes that makes me less than you.
However I had my 10 year old nephew with me who I had to drop off in Bickershaw (he is in school today) before driving home to Appley Bridge so that my son could catch a train to join his friends in Manchester. What did you have to get back to?
I paid £48 quid for the tickets last night and over the years have spent tens of thousands sponsoring, investing in and supporting the various guises of Leigh RL.
I also played the game for many years and have the creaking joints to show for it so I know what it takes to pull on a shirt and take the field.
So don't criticise me when you don't know me.
You are not the only person who has put their money where their mouth is so stop behaving like it.'"

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!:9005.jpg |

What does that have to do with anything?
Why don't you just accept that you have been wrong in your critical statements?
I object to the sanctimonious twaddle written by some people on here - I pay my money and have the perfect right to choose when I leave, irrespective of what the result is.
Don't judge me - I would award you the same courtesy.

| The last thing we want now is a witch-hunt - Leyther against Leyther, or Leyther against the team. The vast majority of those who went last night are true fans - i.e. they turned up to watch.
Whether they leave early or not is up to the individuals - at least they turned up in the first place, where many didn't. (for whatever personal reasons)
We're all gutted, but right now there are more important things to focus on, like starting the battle to get our club back on its feet.
1,800 -2,000 fans, all pulling together, can make a heck of a difference.

Because if you would have left anyway , the result would not have had a bearing on your decision , therefore you would not have been party to any criticism
However I'm fairly sure the vast majority that left were leaving due to the result [ notice I say result , not performance ] , as I said the strength of a club is measured in the loyalty of it's fans , not it's bank balance , and last night showed us how strong a club we have

| Steve, you need to let this go. I saw how emotional you were last night and read your comments after last week. The fans who paid last night should not be your target, your morals/opinions of what is expected of a fan are just that, let others have theirs.

The lads should not have been booed it was poor coaching that saw us peak to soon (as per last season except we had a superior squad this time).
I always remember Tony Smith at Huddersfield in our lge talking about momentum and peaking at the right time. He liked to get the best from his sides early on the season get in a good position then drop the intensity and take the foot off the gas leading into the final few games of the regular season keeping things fresh for the buisness end.
Fev didnt set the world on fire early but have hit the straps when it really matters and Sheff have a knack under Ashton of timing it right and getting big results at this time of year that do not reflect there form in regular season games.
RL in Britain like Aus now is all about the play offs and ultimatley the GF winners.
Millward failed in my opinion given the squad and backing he had any of the current Championship coaches and even people like Steve Mac and Stanky at Hornets wud have at least equalled the achievements hes made.
Cas have droped a bollock Maurice lyndsey wigan style.

| I dont think it was poor coaching in my opinion it was not having players like Evans Mc Carthy
& Blyth available players of that calibire can change a game when we need to rest players or have players injured we dont have the calibre of the dual contracts to bring in... We have played our best rugby when those mentioned players have been available

So dual reg does not really help Champ clubs. We had Fairbanks missing at Sheff, it just screws up the whole team because the SL club determines when they can or can't play. Better off without it.

| Losing Govin was the turning point.
If you look at who was fit and didn't play last night you will see we had no depth. We had Nicholson and ....................... who had played more than 2/3 games all season available.
Our squad was bare and needed DC's to get us through the season.
Next year we will have a deeper squad, at less money with all the bigger earners off contract.

| One of the ironies of play-off rugby - Sheffield lost EIGHT Championship fixtures this season, and must be in with a shout of winning it.
