Agreed. Beaumont is well known for not letting falsehoods go unchallenged, that's just going to attract trolls making deliberately absurd statements to get him going. Don't think he needs to quit twitter, does post some good things & it's good for those involved with the club to engage with fans, just needs to laugh off the idiots, arguing with them is what they want.

Not necessarily. A judge would have to decide if the clause is fair. As it covers a period of almost 2 years a judge may decide that this is indeed unreasonable. If Marwan is confident he will take Gaz to court.

Hopefully, DB has done his checks properly, and checked eligibility with the RFL, got legal advice about how likely he would have to pay and how much it would be if Hock played.

I would hazard a guess that Hocks contract was settled at £x against the full term of £y with a difference of £z, the Doc then put a caveat in that prohibited him playing against Salford for a period which he was happy to sign to become a free agent. Leigh then sign Hock as a free agent at an affordable wage due to pay off. If Hock is selected to play against Salford because his employer requests him to do so, he is in breach of the terms of his settlement which would be a cash difference of £z and settled by agreement or in a court - Derek B the individual may then decide to pay that out of his own pocket as a consequence of requiring Gareth to play as part of his contract with Leigh.
Derek may decide that Hock could be the last ingredient to reach SL together with the central funding increase of £1.3m per season as a result, and that the amount payable is a sound investment.
Marwan has been naughty on two recent instances with Gareth/Leigh 1) when announcing to the world his signing after we had set up a press conference 2) When announcing to the world after the draw that Hock couldn't play in the fixture - maybe Derek is saying enough is enough and has the cash to meet the consequence as he believes the value of making him look silly would be worth it.
