| I don't see the point of announcing a stand being sold out when it obviously isn't.

But you're likely to put walk up fans off if you announce it's sold out. Plus why would you save some for walk up fans if you could sell out in advance?

| Can you tell me if my assumption is correct: Coming across from Bradford and will be unable to confirm my attendance until match day. That being the case it seems that I can buy a ticket at the ground if they are not sold out possibly for the East Stand.

Yes you can buy on the day and although the majority of Bulls fans will be in the South stand if that's sold out then buy an East ticket and sit in the South section. Get your ticket as early as early as possible as there will no doubt be queues at the ticket office, so if you're going for a drink or something to eat before the game try and get your ticket first.

| I estimate an attendance of c7,500 for Sundays match v the Bulls.
Can anyone remember the last attendance figure for Leigh at Hilton Park in the regular rounds, i.e before playoffs, the match where the old heroes such as Des Drummond, John Woods & Murphy paraded on the pitch.
Interested to know, i seem to recall around 7,000.
Cheers.

I've been reliably informed that the last time we got anything over even 5-6,000 for a regular season game in the second tier was 7,027 vs Barrow in April 1978

Even when we ran away with the leagues in the 80's and Naughties, crowds over 3k were very few and far between.
The only 2 'massive' crowds I remember was an attendace of 12000 at HP against Castleford in 82 (Threw that away and we should have gone to Wembley) and Wigan demolishing us in 87 with just under 13000 on. If I remember, it was a hot sunny day and it was 'dangerously' full and there must have 10k on an hour before kick off.
If the club can stabalise a hardcore of 4k for each round, the worlds our oyster. That will grow with time, and we only averaged 6k in our champioship winning season !

The site of streams of urine flowing down the terraces as the portaloos overflowed was a joy to behold that day - following was well over 3k as we had the terrace to the side and a bit of the stand also'"
Wires have always been my soft spot team away from Leigh, even before Higham & Hill, i suppose they are just a very likeable club compared to some.

I remember that game against the Pies very well.
I reckon at the time the quoted attendance was around 12,500 & when announced everyone around said "Liars" we were convinced that around 15,000 were inside & as you say it was Dangerously Full, overfull for Hilton Park.
It was also a gorgeous hot sunny day like you say, but you couldn't get anywhere near a bar for a cooling pint.
