Yes I've read it again Alan. My point being, people will criticise Brierley playing at full back. But not one has said what a great try he scored. Thats the difference. I'm not being argumentative with you. Its those plays that win you games, not 5 and a kick.

That kind of try was always what Ryan was good at. That, and backing up breaks and finishing them off. We don't seem to make many clean breaks for anyone to back up, lately. Our tries often come from close range. We need to play to his strengths more than we are doing.

Or play McNally, who offers other options in attack, and has scored many a spectacular try as well
Don’t see why we are trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, when we have a round peg that is a very good fit

| Ryan’s strength is finishing to do that he needs to play in the middle of the park as his try on Sunday showed, yes I know he was at FB but he doesn’t have the timing or positional skills to bring out the best in himself and his team mates (a couple of times he joined the line and passed too soon without drawing the man), that position belongs to McNally, and it’s no good sticking him on the wing, should we ever make a break up the middle or towards the opposite wing and he’d be nowhere near.
For me Ryan is a Maguire type of half back is major asset is his speed and backing up not his play making skills, the others around him need to bring him into play.
Said it before
McNally FB
Brierley, Brown in the halves
Riddy or Reynolds at loose.

| I agree with Col & glow. McNally has to be at full back. There are few better in the Championship as an attacking player. He's our best attacking option, IMO. He is also very safe under the high ball, and his positional play is excellent.
I have to confess at not knowing where to play Ryan though. Half back is probably the best option, to utilise his pace and ability to be in the right place at the right time. I'm a bit worried about his pace at the moment. Apparently he suffered a hairline crack of a bone in his leg, earlier this season and I noticed he got a bang on it again on Sunday, and was limping for much of the game.

| I don’t disagree with what is being said about Ryan at full back at this moment in time but let’s remember that Gregg was once a failed halfback that got moved to full back and has flourished in that time but has had 10 years of playing there now. Maybe Duffy see’s Ryan long term future as a fullback and if we were to sign him permanently again this may be his thinking as Gregg as with a few others is coming towards the back end of his career. Just a thought I had when trying to work out the logic of Ryan playing b4 Gregg at the moment, and who is to say that given a reasonable amount of time to learn the craft of playing full back that Ryan wouldn’t become an excellent full back. Having said that if we want to win games in the play offs we need Gregg back in the team. Would be happy to run with the Woods/Brown partnership has I thought in glimpses it looked promising, Brown was so much quicker with ball in hand than any other half’s we have had all season.

| If only one of our half backs had the kicking game of York’s Connor Robinson. He kicked us to death on both games. Similarly Duffy was out-coached in both.

| I see this thread has drifted towards how we should use our pivots without a mention of riddy in the halves. If he's injured then fine, but when he's not there, we are not the same, or we lose. Weird eh?

But I did have Riddy on the pitch.
Personally I don’t think Martyn’s returned to us quite the player he was when he left. That said he was (is) still our best half back option this season, up to the signing of Brown, whom I know has to prove himself for us but will hopefully begin to show his pedigree.
The problem we have now is the play-offs are almost upon us and we have little to no time to experiment.

| In reality it’s highly likely will not gain promotion, we don’t seem to have s game plan that will achieve that regardless of who plays ! If I’m right, why bother with Kevin Brown anyway ? apparently, he won’t be with us next season if rumours are to be believed!
By playing Brown now, we may just rock the boat and, we all know what happens to a rocking boat !

Probably won't get promoted..But thats not the point Kirky. They are still in the competition and thats what should be focused on. Not experimenting so late in the day. Its not down to us why players haven't been selected or where he plays them, thats Duffs job.
If we are not getting promoted why such a censorship on injuries or whatever again.

Correct.............however discussing the team/player/coach etc is one of the main ideas of a fans forum.
