| Another bad weekend for the Leythers in this band of brothers then. Leigh have lost as many Championship games in February ’18 as we did in the three previous seasons at this level (the 2014 loss was away at Doncaster – more of Donny later).
So, enough of the real world – what transpired within the shires of Merrie Predland?
Decent turnout of ten of the twelve good men and true of this league this sennight (still looking for a loose forward to complete our XIII).
Most of this week’s entrants predicted five of the winners correctly (ten points each). All the Leyther’s amongst those six only lost out on the latest Leigh debacle whilst Wanderer (‘e’s un ‘urdresser from Doncaster tha knows – Dacia, keepin’ it simple on primetime wi’ Dave) was stung by his Hornets prediction. The others got four winners (eight points apiece). That means that, yet again, there was no taker for the bonus for predicting all six winners.
Neither (yet again) did any one predict an exact score. Bongser has now changed the OP to reflect the precious nature of these two endangered or possibly extinct species.
In more upbeat news, the Alpha & Omega of the league (Atomic & Zulu01) both predicted the correct 20 point margin of the Dewsbury v Swinton match. A further three points each to those sages.
So now to (drumroll..........................) Bongser’s Bonus Bonanza. Thine host’s reliable eyes at the LSV inform him that the four redundancies at ‘no side’ (to borrow a phrase from our XV cousins) were:
ACTON, CUNNINGHAM, MASON & MORTIMER.
Bongser was one of only two participants to zilch out on that one. Most got one (non-)player correct for two points but both The Publican & Wanderer nailed two for four points apiece.
This week’s leading scorers:
Bronze Medal to Zulu01 – 14 pts – grin, kiss it, wave.
Silver Medal to Wanderer – 15 pts – grin, kiss it, wave.
Gold Medal to Atomic – 16 pts – grin, kiss it, wave and then hand on heart.
Please rise for the anthem sung tonight by Miss Deborah Harry who will also present Atomic with an extra 25 weekly winner points to zoom him up the chart.
STANDINGS AFTER ROUND IV:
Down two from last week at 12 it’s SaBadSel – 9 pts
Down three at 11 it’s Vancouver Leyther – 16 pts
(notes from mums expected from you two truants)
A non-mover at 10 it’s Jack Diggle – 20 pts
At joint 8th it’s The Publican (up one) & Wanderer (up two) – 24 pts apiece
Down one at 7 it’s westleighjim – 29 pts
Non-mover at 6 it’s Cokey – 31pts
Down one at 5 it’s Zulu01 – 44 pts
Also down one at 4 it’s LeytherX111 – 50 pts
Down one again at 3 is Bongser – 70 pts
At 2 this Round’s biggest riser (congrats to Mme d’Atomique) Atomic– 71 pts
Which can only mean that at 1 for the fourth week on the trot, on a healthy 98 pts it’s the Chuckle Mother.
As you never seem to get vertigo, Charlie, perhaps you should diversify by trying the trapeze or high wire?
The fixtures and bonus question for the next round will be posted after Bongser has had (insufficient) beauty sleep.

This post proves, Stanley Unwin is alive and well, well done Bongser for putting the scores together,we need more Leythers taking part ,as folk like Cokey don't know much anyway, my Scottish Terrier beat him at scrabble last week.I can't see many games being on this week end, hopefully our game against Fev will survive.

You did indeed, Wanderer. A thousand apologies. Bongser will amend the table this very eventide.

| Well this is embarrassing. Wanderer did indeed last week hunt down one of the “holy grails” with a Pokemon prediction. Bongser had already, in the smoke and mirrored light of his failure to spot that, revised the scoring system on the o/p but is reasonably sure that that bonus was, for the first four rounds, five points. This, had it been correctly awarded, should have made our guest from South Yorkshire the winner of the round.
This puts Bongser in a quandary. The problem is that he doesn’t want to do a Wogan (Sir Tel, for those that recall, once announced the wrong winner on “A Song for Europe,” the delighted “winners” then had their prescious babe snatched from the breast, as he did an immediate U-turn and announced the correct winners). So Bongser’s fudged solution is:
a) Atomic stays on the points previously awarded.
b) Wanderer (in addition to those previously posted) gets the two points that he should have had for correctly predicting Fax to prevail over Hornets, plus the Pokemon bonus, plus a weekly winner bonus and....
c) The Pokemon bonus applied will be the one under the new scoring system.
Let’s see what effect that has on The Swingometer:
Well we see Wanderer with an extra 47 points and a running total of 71, joint second with Atomic, and with Bongser continuing his predictable downward spiral by losing yet another seat.
Your humble(d) host hopes that this will appease all parties concerned. If not, dissenters are politely referred to the third sentence of the pen-penultimate paragraph of the o/p.
Charlie, time to shift your aris off those squashed laurels as, as it turns out, last week was The March of the Mods!!
