I have met Ian many times and oft had a pint with the fella.
He comes across as a top bloke who I'm happy to have a pot with and put the world to rights.
I accept I'm out of my jurisdiction on here.... but this forum is nonthebetter for his absence.

He probably felt he had no choice seen as though very few people seemed to be backing him up and even a couple of mods insinuated that he were Jagger. In hindsight though stopping posting was probably a bad choice as people have taken it as an admission of guilt and the mods seem loathe to put an end to the speculation.

Just for the record, I wasn't one of the mods who insinuated that he was - for the simple reason that I don't know (as I explained earlier).

I don't know whether the site mods would know for sure but I know that neither myself nor DJ, as forum mods, have enough information to say for sure either way.
