Quote: FredParky "Whilst waiting for our Dave after the game I had Radio Leeds on in the car, there were three of them in the studio discussing the Northern Rail Cup all of them agreed (though not one had been to the game) that Leigh must have been very lucky to have beaten Fev (and all gave their opinion of why Fev lost) and that either Batley or Sheffield would win the cup both being virtual shoe in's for the final, now I know it is a yawkshire station but bloody heck I've never heard such a load of biased nonsense in my life.'"

David Hinchcliffe (ex Wakefield MP) and Peter Roe (ex coach of just about everyone) were the 'experts'. Featherstone lost, because they were unsettled about the change of coach, and were taking it easy after the arduous Championship matches they had just played in. Hinchcliffe, (a Wakefield fanatic) was also grinding out excuses for Trinity's woeful second half at Hull KR. He hadn't been there either, but he knew the reasons - probably injuries to 'key personnel'. (although he didn't know that) I was waiting for him to elaborate on who the 'non-key' personnel may be, but he didn't!

We are missing Briggsy, Regular tormentor of Leigh Sam Smeaton, both long term injuries and Greg Worthington who is in a bit of form which meant we had a loose forrad and a winger in the centres. It will have had some bearing on the result BUT all teams have injuries.
However, the reason we lost was purely that we were the architechts of our own downfall yesterday. We threw four interceptions which gifted 16 points. The defensive blunder which lead to Gardner's try was nothing short of chaotic!
Then, having found themselves 4 points down at the break we play lunatic 'catch up' footy as though we were 20 points behind whilst Leigh just kicked well, and whilst creating nothing all afternoon, just sat back and tackled their @r ses off in a defensive effort similar to Roarke's drift, while our lot disappeared up their own @r ses when they had the ball in their hands!!!

Can't take anything whatsoever from Leigh... injuries oor not, we had the personel on the pitch that could and should have done the business. Sport isn't like that. Sometimes players get into a mindset. Leigh just weren't going to yeild once they had the lead. Admirable effort all round won by graft.
If you'd have played sheeeite, I would have said so. Similarly, when you play well, I have to say so.

Quote: maurice "Oh and for WYSIWYG we had a Wigan DC in the team today, under 23 like we said and he had a blinder - plus he looked like he was loving it as well'"

I'm very pleased for you and for Leigh.I hope they go on to win the cup. Please respect that I can't accept a partnership with Wiggin because I know next season you will see more Wiggin reserves in the team until eventually Wiggin will have swallowed Leigh up.

To put your head in the sand, you have to get on your knees. You all seem to have got on your knees to Wiggin - I won't because I can see exactly where it will all end and I won't be any part of it. It will all end in tears for Leigh if this partnership isn't dissolved.

You are now sounding very stupid, Wigan will only swallow up Leigh if enough folk have your attitude - YOU will create the opportunity for that to happen by becoming one of the many bumholes sat at the bar pontificating about why they no longer watch Leigh RLFC. Its a sad choice to make in life and I genuinely pity you for listening to the bullcarp of the bitter and twisted if you are a true Leyther.

Next year the current 'Twinning' requirement will have been binned, the same bumholes will be sat at the same bars, just as they were 5 years ago. Its time for you to be a part of saving our great club and securing its future or leave your inane drivel off this board and find an alternate location for your unsubstantiated ramblings

I hope you choose to become a part of securing our future, if not I hope you choose to refrain from accessing this board

Next year it will be 5 or 6 Wiggin reserves. Wiggin haven't done this out of the goodness of their hearts. Years ago I can't even imagine Leythers shouting and cheering for a team containing 2 Wiggin reserves, now you just don't bother AND you call Swinton Wolves!!! It's exactly the same. Leigh will be fielding a lot more Wigginers in the seasons to come.

50 years watching Leigh through thick and thin but I won't watch a Leigh club that has merged with Wiggin, but you Plastic Wigginers will. I don't understand you at all. The heart and soul of Leigh Rugby League Club has been sold. Fev, Fax and Sheff are all independent clubs, why can't Leigh be? I know they needed money BUT to sell your club to Wiggin. That is unacceptable. I would rather watch a totally independent Leigh club playing in Champ 1 NOT a Wiggin reserve club playing in the Championship.

Oh so it's only a merger for this year is it? I don't think so not if Wiggin have their way. This is all about Wiggin and what is best for them and you lot have just accepted it. Shame on the lot of you!!!

If Charles Day is still open I recommend you make a phone call. I was taught at an early age to manage facts and not fiction - you seem to believe fiction is reality and take pleasure, indeed you seem to make it your mission, in trying to sell your misinformed garbage to the PROUD LEYTHERS still buzzing after a backs to the wall, rourkes driftesque display of blood and guts yesterday.

You poor, unhappy soul please keep away from these boards and let the people who really care, find a way to allow OUR club to reach its potential. Keep walking the dogs instead its very therapeutic and good exercise, much better than allowing bitterness to rule your life which is always followed by paranoia

We have injuries too, Parker being one of them and hes been outstanding this season. Adam Higson not featured yet apart from a run out in the cup game v amatuers.
WYSIWYG we had Spencer who was with us all last year and One dual from Wigan, in fact we've had less duals this season then weve ever had, since they was introduced.

Also we finished the game with only one sub who was fit to come on.

Tim Street and Dave Whittle were Wigan Reserves once upon a time just to name two.

Those two young Props played as part of a LEIGH team with pride and passion for OUR SHIRT yesterday not Wigans.

Me and my dad were driving back listening to the very same.

You would think RL doesn't exist outside of Yorkshire the way they were going on.

Thanks for your opinion.

IMO , I think Leigh would have won more convincingly if we had not lost our young scrum half Ryan Brierley to injury early in the second half and not had our stand off Riddy playing all that half on one leg, having literally hobbled off the pitch at half time.

We were also missing skipper Rob Parker in the front row and that is always a big loss however the replacement props were all able to stand up admirably in the end.

I am the only Leyther on here, the rest of you are Plastic Wigginers who have just accepted the merger.

Alex Murphy, John Woods, Tim Street, Des Drummond, Peter Smethurst, Joe Walsh, Dave Chisnall, Kevin Ashcroft et al they have all poured blood against the enemy and you set of Plastic Wigginers accept them as your saviours. You make me sick the lot of you. There isn't a true Leyther amongst you. Most of you probably haven't even seen a full blooded game of Leigh v Wigan. You probably haven't ever seen us stuff the pies.

You keep accepting the merger and it will come back to haunt you in a few years time when Wigan put their reserve coach in charge of Leigh and they play Leigh as a curtain raiser to the first team game played at the Wigan Sports Village. I bet in a couple of years Wigan Council will upgrade the WSV to seat 15,000 spectators.

I am guilty of being a passionate Leyther who is not accepting the merger with Wigan. I have no team to support because of this merger with Wigan and as long as this merger exists I will keep banging the drum for an Independent Leigh Rugby League Club because I believe that the players who have poured blood for this club deserve that.

You lot of plastic Wigginers who support this merger are shameful to Leigh.

Did your list of players include one or two born in firs?
I will assume this is a strategic wind up and commend you for the quantity of carp you spew to achieve your goal, because nobody with anything between the ears would believe that drivel
