I still await a reply from the email I sent yesterday - don't hold you breath as the RFL (in my opinion) are the most arrogant organisation of all the sporting ones I deal with (FA & RFU), The RFL have some great workers at grass roots but the leaders seem lacking in the basic courtesy that most people expect in life these days - heck a press release explaining why our league is now nothing more than a Training / Novelty league and what the long term plan is by doing this (whether the vast majority agree or not - again another RFL problem, completley out of toucvh with what Championship fans want)would be at the least nice.

| Quote: Michael_Ward "A statement from the club??
They could make their displeasure at the situation known, but what else could they possibly say about either what is happening now, or what is happening at the end of 2014? We've no idea as the RFL have no idea, or are keeping everyone in the dark about it.
So on the presumption that you're not talkign about an RFL statement, I'd like to know what you think the club could possibly say to us. We already know they don't like the current DR setup, that was covered some months ago.'"
Normally I'd say the RFL should comment and Leigh to stay out of it, that isn't happening so as a fan of Leigh I think its fair to ask what do our club make of what is going on ?
I'd say this isn't anything like what was discussed a few months ago.
At the least with everything going on it would be nice to see our club say they still stand by the 'no dual signings at Leigh' comment as things have now altered so much from everyone expecting 4 or 5 U20 SL starlets playing for teams - we are getting last years SL Grand Finalists turning out for clubs we play - that is a helluva shift in what DR was sold as
The alarm bells are blaring out for the very fabric and existance of our league and our club, saying nothing now and trying to keep in with the RFL is probably not a option I feel we have left and a carefully worded statement to our fans shouldn't cause ripples.
Equally if Leigh think with these very sudden and dramatic changes they will also need to go down the road of DR then at least say so and explain why that is , some of us will be disgusted but I'd have more respect if told by our owners with reasoning given as its quite clear the RFL won't show us the basic respect of a explanation of just what has happened in the last 7 days in the Championship.

| I think what worries me is that Keighley was 100% they didn't want to join the sham of DR reg (or JT - job theft as it should be called)and they have changed opinion rapidly - Leigh could do the same if they start to worry - a rallying call would ease undoubted concerns (I don't think a single RL fan has a clue whats going on and what the Rules are anymore - that is the utter farce that the RFL are presiding over)
One thing that puzzles me in all this, do the players not have some kind of players Union as surely they cannot be happy about their members now losing money and a clear threat to their incomes ?

| Originally, if my memory serves me correctly, DC was introduced to develop younger players at SL clubs, by giving them experience of first team rugby in the Championships. The SL club benefitted, as did the Championship club to a lesser degree. (e.g. Matty Blythe)
Then we were all told that SL clubs were ditching their U-23's and that there would be a lot of young players out there with no rugby to play. (current e.g. Tom Spencer, or Liam Hood)
Now we are told that you can only have these DC's (up to five) if you sign a partnership agreement with a SL club. You would not be considered to have SL ambitions if you did this.
Clubs like Leeds and Warrington, who were apparently against these DC plans, are now openly taking the 'proverbial' by sending out their experienced players, who are short on match practice to Hunslet and Swinton, while their younger squad members still can't get a game anywhere. You can get round the limit of 5, by letting them sign permanently, with the Championship club, who must 'loan them' back to the SL club, if the need arises - DC in reverse, it would seem.
Meanwhile, the 'ambitious' clubs can't actually lay their hands on 'loan' players, because they are all D.C'd to someone else. And actually, we shouldn't complain. It was only last season that we were rejoicing at being able to watch the stars of Leeds Rhinos playing at our stadium. Now we can see such SL stars in almost every Championship game we play!
Isn't that great?

| They won't get anywhere though Martin. Even Premier league clubs have to jump through hoops and abide by the rules of the Boarder Agency. Them and Customs have more powers than the highest courts of this land.

As I posted elsewhere, the fact the RFL are even lobbying the UKBA for a change in the law shows their contempt for us lot.
