Quote: TV BOY "Matt is spot on about their attacking and their tries apart from the dart from the play the ball.'"

I put that one down to a (rare) missed tackle from Goulden. We really shouldn't be conceding tries from that sort of position, especially having conceded a similar one last week against Sheffield from their quick tap. Just a lapse in concentration really when defending on our line...suppose we're not used to it considering Batley didn't even get close to the line for the rest of the afternoon!

Brown definitely jumped from within the field of play for the disputed drop out so it was the correct decision and I think Black's sin-binning was spot on as well - we'd made a break and would have been almost certain to score from a quick play the ball that was prevented by Black's messing about (worth taking the risk from his point of view).

I thought Gardner was immense today by the way, my MOM just ahead of McNally and Parker. Very impressed with Ostick once again as well.

This amazes me (sorry Matt icon_wink.gif ) but I agree with all of your post.

Quote: Budgiezilla "1) when brown 'caught the ball' behind the try line, in goal judge pointed to the 25 metre line for a Batley tap, ref overuled him.
2) Ben Black 'sin binning' agree also, could have gone either way.
3) McNally MOM deffo, Ryan Brierley had a quiet game.
4) Don't recall the professional foul on Potts, or any Batley player for that matter.
5) Matt Gardner might have been 'battered' once by a head shot, but it did not stop him being far more effective than the Batley centre's, it's fair enough to 'bash' someone, but it did not affect Matt Gardner's game, he was as RAMPANT as ever.....unlike Danny Maun !
6) Which 'monsters' were Batley missing ? Having said that, we only 'got the upper hand' when Parker/Ostick were on the field, not Spenser/Gallagher.'"

Walmsley and Green from Hull KR, both Monsters like Hirst but more mobile and aggressive

Agree with matt , Gardner man of the match easily , sheer strength , determination to stay on the field despite being targeted with Batley's cheap shots . They didn't know how to handle him , and some great yards made .
Thought the Ref had a very good game today , we played exactly as we did last week , poor first half and better 2nd half.

Nice to shut the Doggies fans up that were constantly in our ear for most of the game , although most of it was banter .

Really enjoyed today.

North Stand was good. Bit of pre match with the guard of honour, HT with the dance troop and a good game to boot as well as some rare away fans.

Gardner MOM once again.

Good point about the away following Jonny, well done to Batley for that, they brought a decent number over and it seemed to help the atmosphere....there was even an outbreak of singing in the West Stand at one stage! icon_eek.gif

Cracking performance again today. Really enjoying watching this bunch of lads. Their team spirit and effort is superb. Not many teams will beat Batley by such a margin this year. Six tries to two. Great effort. Hard to single players out, but thought Gardner was terrific. What a superb attitude this lad has. McNally also went very well. Our forwards ground them down and our back three of McNally, Pownall and Maden worked hard coming away from their own line. We got the rewards we deseved later on in the match. Batley are a good side, so we did very well as a TEAM to come away with that win and performance.

Me our Ol and some of his mates tried to get the " Forward " thing going but we just got a few laughs. Our Ol and his two mates stood to sing " Oh Leigh" but got no takers. There was a good vibe in there todayeven when we were struggling. I really, really love match day.

A few was joining in with an "oh Leigh" in the second half and a "der der" (really need a name for that one!), most enjoyable atmosphere in the West Stand since the Swinton game, for me (was in the North vs Leeds).

Where you sat near the back near John Kear ? think we where sat behind on top row and we joined in the singing, always do but feel we have to shut up after a couple of lines when no-one else bothers icon_lol.gif
Don't Know how the Batley player stayed on the field after nearly decapitating Parker ! yet 10 mins for professional foul.

A enjoyable sunday afternoon out icon_cool.gif

Thought we could and should have been more clinical in the first 20 minutes however after that we slowed right down (Or Batley slowed the game down) and Batley looked the more likely to score resulting in them going in at half time ahead.
2nd half I thought we upped the tempo again and played well as a team and thoroughly deserved the win.
Aside from the fact its nice to beat Batley in a cup game it's also great to win against a well drilled and organised side, our coaching team and the players deserve huge credit for the way they are playing.
M.O.M for me was Littler, a fantastic performance for the full 80 and took some pretty rough shots - a huge player for Leigh.
Don't think anyone let us down today though, bit worried with two kicks being left to bounce by McNally but in fairness the kicks did land some way off so perhaps it was better to leave but maybe the bounce will one day go against us, however 'that' 2nd half try was just pure class and took the pressure off - a class act in the making.
Couldn't argue with the Batley sinbinning as it was clearly 10mins and in fairness the Ref could have done more (IMO) as he did seem to blow for insignificant things yet let others go - the head shot on Parker on first viewing looked the worst I have seen for a number of years and if Rob had gone down (as many players do these days) making it look like he was seriously injured (which again IMO he was lucky not be seriously injured) the Batley lad may have been looking at a very lengthy time on the side lines, that said I like the rough stuff in RL as thats whats makes it stand out as a sport and you only have to see how it gets both sets of fans pumped up the more intense it got.
Clearly Rob Parker has been well taught on ball retention as I noticed when he jumped back up after being 'floored' by the tackle he still had the ball in his hand as he went quickly to find the Batley player who hit him and 'ask' him why he had nearly taken his block off icon_biggrin.gif

All in all though a good game and even the sun came out icon_eek.gif , couldn't get much better.
Its been a good season thus far and things are building nicely with regular announcements of players re-signing for next season and positives coming out of the club - our club is heading in the right direction on and off the pitch icon_cool.gif

Considering Ref's don't sin bin anymore, and was it the 1st at the LSV this season ?
I've seen worse that get ignored.....it was harsh.
