As a Leyther, you’re one of us the moment you come here to wear the shirt. I don't care where you were born, what colour you are, what religion you are, what language you speak. You're one of us, part of our culture, writing our history as you create your own, and making us stronger for it....[/quote:suio7kr3]:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10303.jpg |

| Here's a thought:
Is it possible (and before you answer, remember this is the RFL we are talking about here!!) - as both sets of fixture lists would have been sent to the same address - that they've got ours and Swinton's fixture lists ar$e about face??
Just a thought - as, has been pointed out - last season Swinton played a lot of Friday night games!!
You never know!!

Just checked Swinton fixtures - they have 1 Friday match - away to Leigh. Looks like the club decided on Fridays'"
Fair enough about the 'won't/can't' jpl. I can now fully understand your point about the s/t and Touchdown Club.
Swinton's one away game on a Friday, is on Good Friday, so I guess that one was always going to be on the Friday, eh?

What's the problem with doing both on the same night - go out after the match??

| Wigan,Salford and Sale make more money playing Friday with corporate hospitality i.e prawn sandwich brigade only problem is all these clubs are within 30mins of Leigh.

| From a pure selfish view, bring on the night games. I always have enjoyed evening fixtures under floodlights. I don't mind to see the club experiment with the kick off times if I'm truthful and modern working means that a number of people can't attend on Sundays.
From a practical point of view regarding players, in a number of instances we get some extra recovery time compared with other teams which will undoubtedly help the team.
The club could now market itself as a weekend starter.
Of course the proof in whether it's successful or not will be by comparing attendances.

| A very strange decision by the club.
Personally I'm very surprised they didn't go with a 6.30pm kick off on a Saturday night if going back on the 'our games will be 3pm Sunday' line.
Might not of been ideal but at least we wouldn't be going head to head with the big televised RL match , gives people a chance to get home from work , allows away support to get here and it would give youngsters a chance of attending without being out too late.
Not sure why the club have gone for Fridays (wasn't that the least popular option of Fri / Sat Sun KO ? ?) , from a personal point of view it means my familys attendance will be hugely affected as its a virtual non starter to get home from work then out to Leigh for 7.30pm (then factoring the late arrival back - pretty much the same for a away fan in fairness).
What I would say is that people will have a preference of KO days and are creatures of habit, if you go for Friday nights then do it week in weeek out - DON'T go for some Fri , some Sunday - our awful season in SL taught us that you must choose a matchday and stick to it.
I think though from reading the comments on this thread that what this underlines more than anything is that communication between the club and its support is still lacking and needs a lot of improvement - especially if you want the majority to buy into your new ideas.

| Not happy with this one little bit, I cant make friday night games as I cant get a baby sitter, so thats me not watching very much rugby next season & no ST. How many other people cant make friday nite games, IMO, I think attendances will go down.

| I've updated this seasons fixtures on iCal, hope some people find it useful
As I mentioned last year, I know it works on a mac with ical, not sure if it works on anything else - just click (or copy) the link below
rlwebcal://p04-calendarws.icloud.com/ca/subscribe/1/okT4BcUofcWGdoqcx4qbkudYnHO_vDEW7dgduBv_7jnYE4hzjGS1923Ym-269Y4fBpcghi0jQoyXNPu1xeTYZVv2-vpORfIPVPOO0GKanBIrl
As for this years Thursday/Friday fixtures - I know not everyone is happy, but hopefully everyone will just make it to as many fixtures as they can

Get LEIGH outta wigan: |
|
| Obviously i'm in a minority on here but i'm delighted the club have finally bitten the bullit and opted for friday evening games, saturday evenings would have done as well.
Presumably this decision has been prompted by the corporate side of things, but i genuinely believe this will be good for increasing gates long term, the attendences were going nowhere fast on sunday afternoons.
Going off this MB then it seems the club will lose some supporters, but if, by the end of the season, the attendences have held up or increased, and the corporate side has increased then this policy must be seen as a success and the way to go in the future.imo the club becoming stronger is all that matters.
If that means losing some supporters [including me on issues other than this one] then so be it.

| I don't think the club are rich enough to gamble the future of the club on this whim, fine they lose 300 fans by moving from sunday to friday but were do they find 500 fans from to make a increase
Coperate side don't make me laugh,we can't find board members let alone coperate to fill boxes
What was the point of having fans forums if they just lie to the fans?????
