| Quote: TV BOY "Would like to have heard what the commentators were saying on GMR.'"
I was listening to GMR. They couldn't make their minds up.
With ten minutes to go and you down 12-22 they were saying it was game over. Not long before that they said "You wouldn't know which was the Super League team here." They were most unimpressed with Mr Childs near the end.
It sounded like a great game, and without wanting to sound disrespectful to Leigh, they have every right to be proud of how close the game was, especially if the comments re: James Childs are correct. I'm sure a lot of people expected Leigh to get pasted, but by the sounds of it you had every chance to win.
Naturally I wanted the underdog to win, so I was absolutely hooked on the commentary when it was as close as it was.
A BIG well done to you, shame that the last professional RL team to be unbeaten have finally had that broken, especially if it really is as controversial as it seems, although I must admit I still hate your coach and wouldn't want him anywhere near Super League.
A competitive Leigh in SL would be great, though.

But,a great saying in sport is 'what goes around, comes around'
Last seasons game against Limoux was the same with the ref (from Leigh) being so biased against Limoux who were clearly the better team totally beaten by an incompetant refereeing performance.
Some of the calls were so obviously wrong and it was absolutely criminal that the refereeing bias toward Leigh wasn't punished by the authorities.Limoux deserved the win but were ch****d out of it by a ref who was never going to let the home side win.
.'"
Sorry mate but you are wrong. I was there too as you know.
The Limoux lads were breathing out of their backsides in the last 20 and getting caught offside and constantly interfering with the tackle far too many times. Losing the ruck and then slowing the game down with lazy rugby isnt how the games are reffed at any level.
And that was pretty much it.
The biggest disgrace was the locals and club officials hounding out an 18 year old lad on the refereeing out of his changing room. Very brave that was.

| Well you can't tell off the video. Ellis raises his arm to tell our lads he is going to kick then the outside backs run and they do look to have made some good ground before dragging the Cat lad into touch.
To be sure you would need to be in the West stand near the half way line. Frankb would like to know if the Watcher was sat there.

| Had a hunch that Higson might have been offside as Ellis kicked from quite a deep position.

| The Watcher was sat very close to where Blanch caught the kick & therefore does not know if any of our players were offside.

You'd struggle not to know if he was there, he's the bloke behind you shouting "the watcher thinks that was offside ref"!

| Well on balance it looks like it was offside.
When you review a lot of the contraversial decisions Childs made he does seem to be justified with some of them.
Now I know he got a bad reception but we have to remember we may get him again this season.
Good performance by him is therefore my view. ? Well we would not have won the Challenge Cup would we.

| I guess the camera would not be able to pick up whether a Leigh player or Cats No.15 palmed the ball dead which resulted in a repeat set for the Cats which led to one of their 1st half tries?
What was the view from the rest of the North Stand?
On reflection, it took only one incorrect call to rob us of the match (or at least a chance at the "Golden Point"icon_wink.gif. Maybe he got the other 3 right but......
What this guys gives is strange decisions at strange times that no other refs appear to give which confuses ans, players and coaches of both teams.
He is either top class or top clown.
I usuallly go with the percenages

| I honestly don't believe he's 'bias' towards any teams, he's just incompetent. He let's blatant penalties go and then blows up when there's a vague chance that there was a foul. I don't think it's a co-incidence that the games where the fans/coaches have gone mad it was the home team that felt robbed.

| I am not sure about the last bit Jonny.
I remember the first game he reffed with us involved. It was at Fev in a NRC tie they got the penalty count something like 24-4.

| I really can't subscribe to the theory that Mr Child cost us the game. I think he had a poor game, and seemed to mystify the players (all of them) quite a lot. He seems to enjoy seeing teams under pressure, near their own line, by often awarding three decisions one way, followed by three the other!
I thought each side was awarded a controversial try, (Goulden's and Stacul's) so that balanced out.
In all honesty, what I thought cost us the game, was a slight, but maybe understandable, lack of composure at times. (e.g. Stuart Donlan and Steve Maden getting their wires crossed with a walk-over beckoning)
It would have been great to win, but the side proved so many good things about themselves and another cup game (or more!) may have proved a very big distraction, from more important objectives.
