| Quote: leyther forever "Lets look at facts herev Batley 2246(which beats the 2203 including all the freebies against Barrow)
Is there a trend here? None of these fixtures involved more than 50 traveling fans?
Lets see what happens on Easter Monday.
By the way, I have not included the cup game v an amatuer side which was played after 2 other games over that weekend involving Leigh teams at the stadium
I have not included Barrow with the "kids offer" kindly donated by the co-operative.
I have not included the friendlies with Super League sides who brought very good followings considering the circumstances)
I am not saying this is good enough.
I am not saying that there should be more offers to entice some fans in.
I am saying our crowds are still on the up and lets see over the next couple of home games what transpires.
Dont forget we have gone from the dross last year to a bit of improvement this year. Just like 1999
...and the trend continues! Lets keep on spreading the Gospel according to Mr. Millward
By the way J20, I think you was completely missing my point last time around

| IMO there has been a number of reasons:
1. the poor rugby last year
2. the lack of confidence people have had with the club in recent seasons
3. the very poor marketing that the club does
but the main two are:
1. the recession - people are cutting back on their expenditure and sports clubs are struggling
2. I think £14 and £16 is too expensive
As mentioned, after the start we've had - a half season ticket has to be introduced and i think a family ticket should be done.
Also if the corporate boxes are not sold out or if there is additional space to have people enjoying meal etc then priority seats - then introduce more packages to make money
LISA SHOULD also request something - can another bar be utilised? Bar at the stadium? Room that can have a cold buffet? Kids club?
Also read Tommy Sale's book, recommend it!, he says about how big the supporters club was - we need it that big again - how can LISA attract new blood??? Get some extra volunteers onboard, get the club to introdue new incentives for members and volunteers (if a box has not been booked for a game then LISA can have it at cost etc).
If Millward and ultimately the club want bigger crowds then they need to pull their fingers out - Millward and the players are doing their part now Leigh need to do their bit!

| Couple of things as a SL outsider.
1) yes, your tickets are too expensive, the family stand idea was a cracking one complete with say chips and a drink for a quid if you could swing it?
2) There's a new gym opened on site hasn't there? Businesses like these are great opportunities. Im not saying this would earn you thousands, im not a marketing guru but hypothetically say they have 2000 members (Warrington has 4800 so its not a random number just made up), agree a joint marketing initiative, where you could hopefully offer advertising space (any businesses in Leigh that attract large numbers) in exchange for marketing in their firm, local radio, big stores etc.
3)
Quote: "The core principles of the wonderful franchise system 18 months into it are still sadly missing. Where are all the youngsters being promoted at these bottom clubs who dont need to worry about relegation? How many overseas players now play in SL in 2010 compared to 2008? When the answers to those questions are of a positive nature then just maybe the franchise system might work.
'"
That's just codswallop and so badly researched it's untrue.
I can't be bothered finding the figures but it's a lot less overseas players and more juniors. Castleford in 2008 fielded many juniors and got beat most weeks only for this largely British based side to feature in the playoffs come 2009. Warrington have gone from 9 to 5 in two years and okay Quins and Salford are languishing near the bottom but Quins had 2 overseas players in their easter games, yes two; Salford also have few aussies. It's 18 months into a system I genuinely believe is working but time will tell.

| With just 7 home league games left (!!) can't really see the half season ticket idea happening this time round (worth considering for the future though)...................but what about a 4 match flexi ticket.......any 4 of the remaining league games for £45 or whatever ?
Family stand idea (surely someone on 40k plus a year must read this and think........what a good idea to save my job ! oooccchhh !) with a similar pricing structure to last Monday but with better advertising throughout the town including Miners, Easts etc..........even worth promoting this at a MUCH lower price to get people in to watch.................A WINNING TEAM ! Last year was a write off this year we have the chance to build for the future but will we take it ??

| Why not offer amateur teams within a 5 mile radius 5 tickets for the price of 4 and they get to keep 20% towards the club.
Just an idea like

It's not just about the offers it's getting the word out there, word of mouths all well and good but sometimes you need a nice push.

| I'm not a Leigh fan, why would I?
The point I was getting at is often it's no use having deals if no one knows about them. A club in Leighs position should be out in the community and surrounding areas all the time.
What about a kids day in Leigh town centre where you can get volunteers handing out flyers to EVERYONE that walks by and players meeting fans while you put a bouncy castle and a little party on when the weather's a little better.

Tell people about it. The lad who sometimes comes with me paid on the gate, when I asked him where his family was he didnt have a clue that they could have all got in for another £11.
Like many, he does not get the Journal or Reporter. The club do a great job at keeping fans 'on their system' informed with almost daily emails but with limited resources they can only do so much regarding other advertisment.
Its a catch 22 situation unfortunatly.
The biggest advertising asset LSV have is the bypass. At the roundabout, a huge advertising board would be ideal because you can't read the screen at 40mph through the trees.

Think that's the point Dico was making............to go FORWARD the club needs to attract NEW fans as well as looking after existing one's ...........and tempting ex- regulars back into the fold, All the advertising in the world via the "Centurion" and the official website in addition to this messageboard will be totally meaningless to the people who have not as yet been to the LSV.
