Quote: WHERESYERBALL "Typical of many Leigh fans my mate said he's crap. Just exactly who would the majority of leigh fans be happy with? I don't think anyone would make them happy, i admit that over the last few years since Nanyn was at Swinton i've called him, mainly because i realised that he is exactly the kind of player we have wanted just watch how many breaks he makes and tries Stanton scores now. When the other new arrivals apear we may fin ourselves knocking the mighty Halifax off their pearch!
Stanton will score zilch with Nanyn, he's a great NL plaTer and points machine BUT YOU WONDER WHY? He never passes the thing! Not that it makes much difference mind!

I've never rated him at other clubs, but we'll see how he does for us. He hasn't played in this league for abit now and dare I say it's alot tougher than it was in it's past years.

Never rated Nanyn and it's not a good signing for us IMHO. From what I've seen of him against us he went missing far too often in big games and contributed to McCormack's bottler tag. I guess now we'll find out if that was really down to coaching or not. IMHO in a very young squad we need players who'll stand up & lead by example, and I just don't see Nanyn as that sort of player. Also, if this is a case of bringing in a kicker to help with a decision about our full-back spot then IMHO that would appear like we were about to make another poor decision.

However, it's only on loan, & he's going to pull on a Leyth shirt, so good luck to him & I hope he proves me wrong. And trying to see some positives, at least now it'll be harder for fans to slag off Marshy & Hobbo's fitness...

Because he is given the ball 10 metres out and is like a bulldozer!

Leyther1, he never went missing in the big games for us. That was Moran.

Enjoyed ribbing him whenever he appeared against us. His record suggests he cant be as bad as we have all made out in the past (including myself). My main criticism as always been that he could/should have been better than he actually is and never used his size in defence as I would have liked him to, but could we ask for a better strike player from 20m out? He is not a wingers centre so Stanton and the like may not benefit too much but can slip the ball in the tackle when the opposition are struggling to get him down.

Lets see how much he has benefited from the Quins full time environment and lets hope he does to others what he always seemed to do against us.

Welcome aboard and show the cameras on Thursday what you are made of.

Who said loan players would not come to Leigh?

Exactly, remember one game he scored about 4 and Bowman didn't touch the ball on the wing and was having a bit of a strop lol!

Nanyn was our best player in GF vs Castleford!

How can you rib someone with the scoring record he has? Your VERY lucky to have him and i'd take him back in a second!

Was never a huge fan of Mick Pudyn mainly because he seemed to go missing and underpunched his weight on the defence front. However I think beggars cannot be choosers and you could do worse.

We do need someone who can score points and his record is pretty good, you have to admit.

I am sure most of us will be able to forgive and forget pretty quickly as long as he makes an impact.

Well we had our own scoring sensation in Neil Turley but they managed to 'bag' him at every opportunity there was, its what Leigh fans do best icon_rolleyes.gif

How did Nanyn ever get away with the ref punching incident against Swinton?

So let me get this right.

We've signed a points machine to fill a gap in the where we have been lacking all year, someone who has spent all year getting fit at a full time SL club, someone who is capable of scoring tries against some tough teams in the coming weeks, and folk are still moaning.

Do players (apparently) avoid the club because of Paul Rowley, or the slagging off they get before they have even pulled the shirt on?

Give the bloke a chance FFS!

Think some of you are being quite silly about this signing.
The guy is an absolute points machine - trys, goals galore. His defence is decent and he rarely gets injured.
Whether you like him or not, the facts speak for themselves. The guy is a massive asset in either NL1 or NL2.
Get a grip. This signing is a huge boost for your side.
