| to be fair they got was it 7000 against Swinton on a Friday night, which could have been described as a nothing game not so many years ago.
Its a big opportunity for them, and the crowd today proves they can do it. And before anyone gets all negative we didn't get anywhere near that gate for our last game of season. In fact I think the visit of first ever game against a Russian club brought in more sadly than the last ever game at HP.

| As above - I think Salford's crowd today (fair play to them by the way) just shows what a missed opportunity we had when we said farewell to Hilton Park.

| Of course, Salford knew for a while when their last home game would be, because they were never going to get in the play-offs. Our last game was a play-off game so couldn't really be predicted.
However, we still messed up our opportunity.

I reckon we are the leaders in the sport for doing that and probably have been throughout our history.

| Most of the fans there interviewed by Radio Manc, were fans of other clubs, so they won't be there unless there own team is playing at the stadium

| When Wire were at Wilderspool who would have predicted that they would be getting regular 12k crowds? I certainly wouldn't. I can see Salford getting big crowds in a nice stadium in a nicer location with a decent team. Maintaining it year on year is the trickier bit.

Agreed, Warrington used to average around 6k. Then they got a stadium and a decent coach.
Exactly like Salford.

Warrington with loads of decent junior clubs producing players in a town dominated by RL with no soccer club
Salford where nobody plays the sport, don't produce juniors and have Man U on the doorstep
No comparison - but wish them well in the move.

| Direct comparisons between Hull FC/Warrington cannot be made with Leigh & Salford.
I wish Salford all the best, but 8,000 will be mightily difficult to achieve and maintain.

| Salford's biggest ever star, Mike Sweeney of the Salford Jets, performed at the game so it's no wonder 10,000+ turned up.
