What type of coach do you feel this squad of player need?

He may well have showed an early expression of interest. As I am sure many more will also prove to do in the coming days. That is all.

| I have already stated that Millward would be my preferred option, especially when he turned the 'returning' Mickey Higham into the player he was / still is !!
A friend of mine in Huddersfield says it has already been advertised in their local rag that Paul Anderson has been named already !
Unfortunately, it would have to be Cunningham, but at 50/1, Millward would be a really interesting punt !!

| I make no apologies for posting almost an identical post on the Challenge Cup thread because I feel we have a great chance to turn this season around.
The announcement of MH coming out of retirement has given DB a great opportunity to turn the season around and get feet back on the terraces very quickly IF he brings the right coach on board. A quick read of the this thread and others where a new coach is mentioned or debated shows one clear message. Don’t make it KC Derek !

| If K.C. is to be the next coach, then surely Derek should be advertising for a new Director of Rugby not coach !!!
My bet is the "Marwan" effect I suspect Ian Watson will be brought in, think about it.
Proven S/L coach, Marwan's old coach and links with Leigh (2008 - 2009)
Just a thought

| Zulu I have mentioned Watson in a previous post and agree with everything that you say. However, I dont see Cunningham as a long term fixture at Leigh. Great player but no coaching skills. So why not take the gamble and approach. Shaun Edwards a man that has exprerience(vast) in both codes. Commands respect and has contacts throughout both codes of Rugby

If true may spell the end for KP.

| It will be interesting seeing how Purtill goes. He has a lot of experience as assistant at Huddersfield and Saints, has been head coach for England Knights, and is, I believe, highly respected in the Game.

He has already given a great interview about the academy set up and what he would do if he was gaffer at the RFL....
hopefully, now he has been given the opportunity to put his own ideas and theories into play we will see some results ( as long as KC isnt pulling the strings calling for 5 drives and a safe kick )
in my humble opinion (and experience ) most assistants in whatever industry have a sound knowledge of whats is needed/expected, and are already aware of, and are good at moderating, the mood amongst the troops as they tend to be the go betweens. They also tend to have their own ideas how things `should` be done and the really good ones given a chance, pick up the ball and crack on....
With Mickey re-signing and bringing a much needed leader back onto the pitch and Purtill free to bring fresh ideas into the gameplan, i for one am looking forward to some exiting rugby

| Shaun Edwards does not know how to get a team promoted and stay in SL. We need experience. I’m going to bang the Smith drum until someone else is announced.

They just got confused with the name that's all, they probably don't even know that we have our own Paul Anderson, they heard the name and came up with 5.

Know what you are saying Steve.
It just wouldnt feel right - S. Edwards was the "enemy" for so many years in the 80's. - get what I mean.

| Nearly every coach in super league last year was the enemy Zulu. And we ended up with Cunningham. The one nobody wanted as coach in another name
