Get LEIGH outta wigan: |
|
| Quote: Alan "A good performance by Leigh. Don Valley is always a tough place to win, for us. Try of the game for us was Pownall, straight down the middle from a scrum 10 metres from our own line - burned the lot off!
On the down side, it looks like JT's knee went again, immediately after coming on for a second spell.'"
Was it like that briscoe try for hull lastnight?

953.jpg 2015 - major missed opportunity, 2016 - stronger teams = harder task (no problem there then), 2017 - OMG What now!!!:953.jpg |

| Quote: Budgiezilla "I WAS DEPRESSED 5 MINUTES AGO !
In Widnes helping my Uncle shift some stuff (i was nowhere near a radio) On my way home put GMR on at 4-30, it was a bl00dy footnall phone in, then finally at 4-50, they gave the score Sheffield 32 Leigh 4 !!
I was like, blimey what will Leeds put past us on Friday. So come on here to see people's reaction, and I thought I was 'dreaming' !! WHAT A FANTASTIC WIN, sounded like one helluva game.'"
We phoned the idiots to request they get it right......they just ignored it.

Didn't see the Briscoe one. The ball came out of the scrum and was fed to Littler for the usual head down charge, but Littler fed it straight to Pownall, and he left them all for dead, straight down the middle.
In the end, the difference was Ridyard's flawless goal kicking. They outscored us six tries to five, but Riddy kicked seven out of seven, including the two late penalties that got us level, and then in front.

| Looking at the games this season where teams have had cup-ties coming up (such as Fev before both cup-ties) any sort of result today would have been a real bonus so well done to the team, however scratchy it might have been.

| Good win. Sheffield played well and hardly ever dropped the ball until very late on. They have got a VERY dangerous backline and I feel they would have beaten most teams today on that showing. Well done Leigh. Pownall's try was a corker. Well done lad and well done to Riddy on his accuracy with the boot for goal.

Gotta make the most of this fact. Still not getting enough fans through the gates. This comp deserves so much more.

| I think one of the 'oddities' about playing at Don Valley, is that defence can very soon turn to attack, as the pitch is so short, so there is very little time for defences to set themselves. Hence games where the lead changes hands so much.
Brierley actually played 80 minutes today, but was, for him, fairly subdued. He'd probably been told that, if he played a full game at 100 mph, his team mates would never be able to keep up! Tell you what though, on defence we shoved him out on the wing, where he seemed to be constantly targeted by Menzie Yere, who he seems to relish tackling!

| We missed Duffy so much today his on field organisation was lacking as was his ability to make room for his team mates.

A realistic prize at the end of it would be a starter! But I'd better not mention the 'p' word or the site will get closed down by Chief Inspector Lewis and his burly sergeant.
On the way home from Sheffield, I heard big Karl agreeing that teams in the Championship would be quaking in their boots, at your result. And what a result. However, didn't Sheffield also score 60 there recently? (and didn't we get thrashed at POR just before that?) And haven't we just beaten you and Sheffield? The trick is to back up a fantastic win, with another one, which isn't very easy at the moment!

You only appreciate 'em when they're not there, eh?

| I rate Duffy highly and I am always gutted when he is not in the 17. We missed him badly when we lost at Sheffield earlier in the year. However, even with him involved, we endured our only two league defeats this season and with the ball in hand I thought Sheffield were better than both Fev and Batley on those particular occasions.

| Sheffield have a good squad and ball in hand always looked capable of scoring.
The team spirit in our side is impressive.
Agree about us missing Duffs. Hope he is back for the NRC quarters.
Must admit thought we would lose when Sheffield got in front.
Well done lads.

| We need to think about replacing him now, the younger Powell at Wigan would be a good bet if he gets 'cut' next season.
