Am i correct in thinking ryan is now a free agent, it says he is in trade press. So does that mean we are not entitled to a transfer fee for him.i wonder why we agreed to such a clause, clearly ryan was very close to our former coach.

Ste I wouldn't have thought Paul resigning would make Ryan a free agent, I could be wrong ,but feel it is unlikely.

Derek's interview from today with Dave Parky mentions it, worth a watch if you have LCTV.

Basically says the clause is unenforceable and that Ryan is going nowhere. States Ryan is happy to stay under Jukes and that clubs and agents are not permitted to contact him without permission from Leigh.

Also wants to know who leaked the details of a private contract to the press.

Sounds to me like Ryan's agent might be trying to drum up interest in his client. Something I wouldn't be surprised has happened before giving the never ending rumours of Brierley leaving to sign for X/Y/Z.

I still fully expect Ryan to be playing at Batley on Sunday and still be playing for Leigh come the Super 8's at the end of the season.

That's a fair summary of the interview with DB. Questions about confidentiality too. Well worth a watch. So in answer to wolrab above I would say he may not be a free agent.

'The Ryan Brierley Show' drags on for yet another season. I must have missed him becoming the worlds greatest player.

Yawn.

If we don't go up this season then I am pretty sure Brierley is gone.

He obviously has SL aspirations and I feel he is definitely talented enough to play for a top half SL team.

He has improved season on season at Leigh and I think the reason he has stayed is that he knew how well he was developing at the club but he is now at an age where he needs to make the step up and test himself in the top flight. Hopefully that is with Leigh if we can deliver the goods this season. If we can't deliver then I can't see Ryan sticking around for another season in the Championship. He is only 23 so the bulk of his career is still ahead of him. Would be great to see him playing for Leigh in SL next season.

He's probably got better things to do than respond to every cock & bull rumour (and there have been an awful lot of them) that crops up about him, start responding to rumours & people will just use it as an excuse to create more. I really don't understand why after so many rumours about Ryan leaving have turned out to be rubbish people still believe them.

Derek, have you noticed how tight-lipped all our players have been since Paul's resignation. Perhaps they have all (including Ryan) been told to make no comment - especially to the media.

As for League Express, their 'famous' comment about Ryan is hidden in about para 23 of an article about Neil taking over as 'caretaker coach' ! (couldn't even get that right!) And basically, it's a non-comment anyway!

Just watched derek's interview on LCTV, one thing for certain from it, is you cant be in any doubt ryan's future for this season at least is with us, great work by dave parky also. Would not like to be the person who leaked the clause.

Spot on mate,he responded a few times last year,just at the end of December he did an article in RL World clearly stating he's here for the season,they all seem to fall on deaf ears though.

Sadly a lot of the rumours are regurgitated by some Leigh fans who seem to revel in it,I think they will believe what they want regardless of what he says.

He's better not saying another word all season now,and just get on with what he does best,and if fans want to work themselves up into a frenzy believing all the stories,then let them.
