Grubrats is that really the best way to run a business in a little run down town that relies on an ever dwindling loyal fan base? All that Jenky was asking for was a bit of an update, just a little info from the “band leader”, not too much to ask for really when people are hesitant to buy a season ticket for next season until they know what is actually happening. As seen on various threads there will always be a hardcore of supporters that will buy a ticket come what may but that’s not enough even if we only want achieve just a modicum of success. From a commercial perspective someone at the club should at least proffer some info to try to appease and inform the natives. At least they would know where they and things stand.

As an aside you suggest that if I don’t like the tune I should find the money to pay the piper myself. I’ve got enough money to fund 3 or 4 SL clubs but it really doesn’t appeal to me to waste and fritter my relatively hard earned wealth on anybody but my wife and I. I’m far too hedonistic.

" , IMO no , it isn't , but I won't criticise the person that has paid for that privelige , Derek has taken us into SL and a dropped pass from remaining there , that is good work , since then he's made a bit of a pigs ear of it , I'm sure he knows that much better than any of us on here , he is dealing with it in his own way , that is his perogative

You say you have the wealth to emulate him , but choose not to , that's fine , again your perogative , I would say then in your situation you might well behave in exactly the same way if you had chosen to do what he has done , you don't know that for sure , because you haven't done it

Only by doing something do you know for sure how you would react in that particular situation

Derek is a ' doer ' , most are ' watchers ' knowing they couldn't or won't but understand that the ' doer ' is the one ' doing ' and it is their call and then we have the ' moaners ' who neither can or would but think they know more than anybody about everything and believe they are ' owed ' answers to any question they ask , they aren't

Now, I never said that anyone is owed an answer, they aren't. What I did say was that commercially it would make sense to inform/update your paying customers. There's a big difference. Being a do'er doesn't mean you are doing things right or will be successful, you are doing your way and hey you have paid for the privilege as you rightly say but what I do find foolhardy is having chucked in a load cash and with no idea/experience of how to run a rugby club you then dispense with the established board of whatever they were called. His privilege of course but not good business practice. At least use them till you have extracted their knowledge skills etc. Then ditch them and do your own thing, but try and be professional not an idiotic, billy big balls gob ë

Tell me ? , which RL , or indeed any pro sporting chairman has experience of running a sports club until they actually do it ?

The previous board contained other businessmen just like Derek , in fact less like Derek as he at least had 3 years previous experience from 2002/5 , they had none

Arthur Thomas ( bless him ) had experience at both Wigan and Saints prior to taking over at Leigh , did we perform any better back then ? , no , not really

I agree from a commercial point of view , not communicating with your customers isn't good , but if there isn't anything to communicate or it isn't good news or if it is sensitive info that requires privacy , then you keep ' Schtum '

Your last sentence gives you away , you don't like him , that's fine , plenty don't , doubt if Derek cares , you rarely achieve wealth without upsetting a few people , I had plenty of customers I didn't like , still dealt with them if it made me money

Life will go on Leigh RL will still play RL at the LSV ( we hope ) and eventually our fortunes will turn upward

Without social media nobody would be too fussed , so to all those whingeing and moaning , get on YouTube and find some of our wins from previous years to watch , or if not , I'm sure there's plenty of funny cat and dog videos on there to entertain you till the season starts

With regards to DB I don't know him, never met him and don't want to. I've never said I don't like him, life is too short to worry about others. I was commenting on his public persona, he comes across as very unprofessional, that is disappointing, he is representing LRLF in the Rugby community and wider sphere.

You might be an expert on Pro club management , you only don't know because you haven't tried despite by your admission of being able to afford , plenty on here are without doubt experts , their posts tell me so , unfortunately they've never made the cash to prove it , shame that

To call somebody an idiotic billy big balled gobe without actually having met them is a strange one , I know Derek and we have at times had ' words ' , he isn't everyone's cup of tea , but I do believe he is too passionate about things at times , he is either all in or nothing , he expects the same from others sometimes , which is probably part of his downfall , but I don't question his commitment
