Dereck Beaumont was talking very passionately about getting back involved with Leigh and taking the club forward. The fella asked " have you any money " Dereck made some sarcastic comment and shot him down. Dereck then replied " yes I have money I have millions" these are not his exact words but something like that. To be honest I thought it was a fair question but it wasn't really the forum to start talking about it .

Derek's business is doing very well and the bloke is willing to put some of its profits into the club he loves, we need a few more to join him and a trust/fans investment to work alongside them.
This club has always had its uneducated loud mouths and I assume the one in the bar wasn't offering to pay the wages.
The BoD should lead, we haven't had one for years, Derek will change that

Is this what Derek wants then Mo. We currently have a successful supporters association that raises thousands. Did i also see someone post they are increasing their contribution now DB is back. Personally i do not see the point in changing things. At least until we know the new makeup. Anyway mo why don't you put yourself up for Lisa Official as LISA can and do attend board meetings.

Attending board meetings has little value D, my views have been consistent for a decade - we need a community club built around partnership and transparency not gimmicks. LISA contributions should be via shares IMO in any new set up to give them a real voice, whilst allowing fans who don't want to buy shares via LISA to do so direct.
Shareholders then elect a bod to run things, key areas being sales, finance and ops with a legal eagle if possible

Mo , im sure if you made yourself available for a chat with the BOD they would welcome your ideas , or at least listen to them , myself , im not an educated bloke , just an ordinary supporter , no money to invest , but ready to help in any way i can , my health isnt to good at the moment , otherwise i would do much more to help .

Derek yesterday didnt go into any detail about his plans , it was more about assuring the players they would be paid , and informing the Room about his intended comeback , i must admit im a DB fan ,and remember him at Fax a few years ago banging a Drum to rally the Leigh fans , his enthusiasum,is infectious , lets give him and the BOD , our support , its not a case of them and us , but US , we are all after the same target , im sure anybody with ideas will be listened to , anybody with money to spare welcomed , lets stop the Bickering and unite to help Leigh Centurions move forward .

I had my first dealings with him a few years back at a Leigh game and to be quite frank, he may have money, but as somebody representing your club his actions were quite pathetic and simply embarrassing. If someone cant be dignified in victory then I dread to think what they are like in defeat. The guy is a huge tool in my opinion but needs must at the moment if he can help your club get it while you can.

I think you are being very harsh on Derek , i agree a few years ago he was a bit of a Wild lad , and wears his Leigh heart on his sleeve , as i said the Drum at Fax , and the Bullhorn at Chorley , but he is Leigh through and through , has still been sponsering the Club , even though not actively involved , you either like Derek or you dont , I DO .

I would like to see my owd mucker Tony Cottrell also make comeback , again a Leyther through and through , a good head for Business , well liked in the Town , Cmon Tony show them the owd Pennington spirit .

Personally I am not one bit bothered about LISA recieving shares. We have someone on the BOD and that will do for me. What will LISA do with shares? LISA wasn't setup to run the club just to help it. I really hope that calls for mass change to the people who have got this club out of the mire don't start up again because it really wound me up. I am in Ians corner. I will do anything I can to help my club but will leave the day to day running to the ones that have done quite a satifactory job upto now. I have just put on another thread about the club raising money for a budget to push us into every school and organisation in the borough. Advertising games on billboards all over the place. In the papers and on the radio. I would very happily put my hand in my pocket for this at the moment because that is where I feel we are failing. When I finish this job in May I hope that I can give the club some of my time aswell as seeing them on the pitch more. I don't want to own shares I would like to see my dosh on billboards and in the assemblies of the local schools.

Shares provide a sense of ownership, a right to vote for the bod and the right of financially transparency aka you may get to see the poop before its on your shoes
You don't have a mass vote on daily decisions you have already voted for people to make them calls but if say the bod decided to twin with a club and sufficient shareholders objected you could force an AGM and the decision reversed
The biggest win is a share certificate saying you the proud fan own a part of the club you love and when the pub no it all questions the running of the club you ca. Tell him it's your club and he is talking through his arriss
