I am glad you wrote that, if I had posted something of similar sentiment, I would have been crucified on here.
Oh hang on, it would of been by you.

| Two moments of sublime brilliance from half back Danny Craven tipped an intriguing game of chess, massively into Widnes favour.
I could give a more detailed analysis, with focus on the root cause for our lack of attacking structure today but have decided it wise to keep my thoughts to myself on this occasion.

| Tactally lacking today Brierley is not a play making halfback like Craven however, he has other attributes which he should use more namely, his pace! He shouldn’t be waiting for someone to put him through a gap he should make his own plays!
I’d thought Owens would have been a weak link at fullback for them today just as he was in that position for us last year! Owens was out of position constantly in the early tackle counts and Widnes were vulnerable to pace had he backed himself to kick into those spaces , it just highlighted to Ryan’s shortcomings!

I didn't think it was necessarily wrong to play it tight, in those conditions - it was our execution of those tactics that let us down massively. Repeatedly coughing up possession in their '20' and some appalling short kicks, cost us dearly. We just couldn't/didn't build up the pressure on them.
Fair do's to Widnes - they played well, and deserve their day 'in the sun' (hopefully!) at Wembley.

| Also I think it's worth noting after Josh Woods was ruled out, that Ridyard was no where near fit enough to take the field and only did so in the teams hour of need, after volunteering to take an injection to play.

| Ryan’s a fullback all day long, chiming into the line when the spaces have been created. Unfortunately we have a similar fullback in McNally who does that job. Someone needs to make a decision which one is the long term holder of that position. Riddy is coming to the end of his career and today was outclassed by Craven (again). We missed a half back who could control the game with Woods being injured. If Craven does join us next season (as is the rumour) then we need another half to complement him. Riddy needs to retire, injuries/age have caught up with him. Ryan needs to accept that he isn’t a halfback. He needs to make the fullback position his own or move on to a team like Swinton who will indulge him in the half’s. if Ryan doesn’t want to make the switch to Fullback we have Gregg who is more than able in that position.

Surely Wildie is a replacement for Higham when he is done at the end of the season. He’s a better 9 rather than 7.

| Personally I enjoyed the game , both teams played very well, but Widnes seemed to want the win more.Ive heard all these half back theories,I’m a big Ryan B fan, but today his kicking was poor, not much yardage gained, obviously Riddy wasn’t fit.
For me McNally must stay at full back,I agree Riddy is coming to the end of his career, so is Mickey Higham, hopefully our 9s next season will be Hood and Wildie ,if Craven has signed try him with Ryan, and let Marsh go, no breaks, no runs , not a good games to tries ratio for a winger.
I think everyone will be gutted none more than Derek, but let’s move on,Widnes had some big lads in the pack, I like the lad Norman, the Adamsons have been good this season, but are they big enough?I have faith in JD and Derek,I do think some harsh decisions are needed if we want to move from top 5 contenders to realistic challengers for top spot.

Good evening or morning, whichever it is over in the East,I did know it would be a hard close game, though I thought Leigh would win, however Widnes deserved to win so I have no qualms about the result.
As I said onwards and upwards now, our season isn’t over , we will learn from this game and regroup and come back.
