I can see more leigh fans taking advantage of this than the Salford fans.

Its not a bad idea in general away fans should be encouraged to travel and more should be done to make that happen.

He didn't actually announce it, he said it was being discussed and both teams were keen to make it happen and possibly even include Oldham and Swinton on a type of "Super Academy".

I must say, I think it's a great idea that owners are getting together to help the game. The super academy seems like a smart idea if it can be ironed-out, and the discount deals for fans of both clubs is a decent idea for those wanting to take in a game of RL. Like I said elsewhere, it doesn't mean that we can't still be local rivals on the pitch. Makes a lot of sense off the field.

Seems like DB and MK are trying hard to do something different.

Think its nice to see positive ideas not only being discussed but more importantly being implemented.The game can only gain.

We can share an academy but the bus way is ours! Bring on the bus way derby!

I still think they should have included the Leigh v Salford/Salford v Leigh games in the half price scheme, better to have 1200 + away fans in your stadium at 1/2 price than 500 at full, I think a trick has been missed there.

Pre-season friendlies apart, it has been a while since Leigh/Wigan was realistically a derby. At present it's a bit like saying Liverpool versus Tranmere is the Merseyside derby. Wigan take the Saints clashes much more to heart and, for Bongser who knows far more Salford RL fans than Wigan ones, this NEW derby is the one where he'll be hoping for the bragging rights. The clubs are a fair bit more evenly matched and so, putting grouses over local administrative issues aside, that's the one he'll be attempting to see home and away.

As a Salford fan I think it's a great gesture and given there is a Guided Bus stop at the end of my road I'll definitely be jumping on and taking advantage of this whenever Salford aren't playing next season.
