Maybe, but didn't Trevor quote £20k?

sorry alan i must have missed that bit.
that seems low to me,you'll get people/organisations not needing to work very hard and yet they'll have a say in how the club is run.
I can see it now Alan in another two/three years half a dozen people sat in comfy chairs round a big table, slapping each other on the back and saying not bad this for doing nowt.

£20k every year is how I understand it, thats a fair figure for an individual to lose every year.

| It would work for a year or two to keep us going , not sustainable long term , ultimately the club has to become a true business ( or as close to one as possible )
If we set the target to remain a charity , then a charity we will remain , and the same problems will come back to haunt us again

| Throughout the interview Trevor stressed the phrase 'self sustaining'. That must be the way it has to be.

Realise that Steve. I was just re-inforcing what you said.

The problem is Alan , that some people seem to think that donations are self sustaining , when in fact they are no different to having a sugar daddy , any money that is not genuinely ' earned ' is donation and is not sustainable long term
Part of the LISA drive for new members was that it was short term , ie till the end of next season , similarily with the Corporate Club , eventually companies might not be in a position to donate , or the owners choose not to
And one thing is for sure , if you have a genuinely sustainable club , you become much more attractive to investement , quite simply , that is the situation at Widnes , Steve O Connor was primarily a football fan , but the numbers needed to join that ' Circus ' are obviously ridiculous , but the local RL team with enough income to almost break even was a much more attractive proposition

| It is total stupidity to plan to have a successful club at this level and expect not to need income to be externally topped up.
If we simply want a bunch of not good enoughs playing in the strip on a Sunday afternoon in C1 then I agree with your post, if thats the case then let it die now.
We should be ambitious and plan to meet that ambition from generated revenues, we should also be prudent enough to have external income in place to cover shortfalls.
We should be able to run at the top of this tier losing no more than £100k pa, if we reach a GF or NRC then that is dramatically reduced.

Is that not where we are now? with a loss of c£100k but with no one to top it up?
That IS the current issue, probably will be again next year and therefore highlights the necessity to be totally self sustaining.

I understand AT's charity is in 7 figures over recent years, so the deficit was more like 300k pa .
The cuts made are getting it more like the 100k and that should be sustainable.

| Does the £100k black hole include the players wages due on friday or were they paid and are not included now. If they were n't paid there must be some very angry and disillusioned players who may possibly be looking for legal redress. Lets hope they were paid.
