General fitness can be gained in training (and helped by taking it easy in down time.) Match fitness can only be gained by time in the theatre of battle. A long slog up Mount Pleasant's slope would kill Bongser but might put minutes in Blake's legs. However, Batley are no pushovers on their own midden, so who would sacrifice a forward on the bench?

Nisbet did okay when played out of position and will surely be champing at the snaffle were mid-match reshuffles needed. Big call for Lammy though.

I’m trusting the fact that he has not appeared, is Lam doing his job and putting the best 17 on the field, and not just putting names on the sheet that look good. I am chomping at the bit to see him play but he has to be ready and worthy of the shirt on the day, and not given it on his reputation as a player. That said I expect him to have a big impact very shortly.
