Kay is a faster more prolific try scorer. Wingers are about pace. Which MD lacks.

Jeff FWIW I liked Andy Hobson, he had BOTH agression and stupidity at times but always gave 100%.

Remember the Warrington play-off match which we lost 32-30 and Dawson dropped an up and under to concede a soft try and then fumbled the ball with the try line at his mercy 10 minutes from time. A 10 points swing in a tight match all down to him. Give me Liam Kay any day.

Dawson is not a great winger at all.

Slow, positionally poor, he is a weak link and a spot player for any opposition half back to watch closely. He will on more than one occasion lose his concentration, drift off his line and jam with his centre. Then hey presto, a long looped pass from the opposition half back to the opposition winger for an unopposed walk in try at the corner.

I was more than surprised by the number of 2017 SL squad players our ex DOR did not rate and off loaded, that Dawson was one of the first of the 2017 squad he did offer terms to.

I think a lot of the positional play issues came from a lack of trust in whoever his centre was. Seemed to go ok outside Tonga or Worthington, and him and Crooks improved as the season went on, from a horrific start (lots of talk about the team needing time to gel, but our right edge only had one new face in it, in Bodene Thompson). Shame we never signed a full back, as he might have done well playing outside Matautia if the chance arose.

That said, I agree he's too slow.

And that's what impressed me about young Dagger. He was constantly organising his defence. One of the things I believe we have been lacking on the pitch, is an organiser, in any position. HH was a wonderful player at leading by example, but wasn't necessarily a team leader.

Was quite surprised at Matty's performance at centre. It's quite a rarity for a winger of ours to get three tries, and his centre, two!

Well they'll probably continue to do so against the majority of the opposition over the next 7 weeks
