The ' ex ' fans are a lost cause but the people of the towns [ all three ] are far from a lost cause

When is en ex-fan truly an ex-fan? As I've been saying on here since my first ever post being a fan is not black and white. Every GMR-listener has their trigger point to become a paying spectator again.

At the two extremes, for some it may take a SL Grand Final or Challenge Cup Final, for others they will go home and away no matter how low we fall.

In between there is a big long sliding scale ranging between 500 and 10,000. It would seem that I'm a fairly fair-weather fan who bails out at about 2,300!

Basil's appointment just jumped us up the scale by 500 I'd guess.

I wouldn't disagree with that synopsis at all, and with a few quality signings close season I'd guess you could push that to 800/1000.....ish.

And for a long shot..................................don't be "too surprised" if at sometime in the future (especially frosty/snowy weather ) the Sale Sharks Rugby Union team make the odd visit to "The Rupublic Of Leigh" !!

I also have to agree. The opportunities for supporters are endless. For myself it could be a night round town with the lads post match or a quiet drink / meal with the mrs. Sundays free for family days or even an extra day round town with the lads...

Friday is still too much of a rush and hard on the awaya supporters, but still prefer to Sundays.

I agree , but the problem is nobody can guarantee anything on the pitch side of things

All you can try to do is play attractive RL and then get the people down to see it , hopefully that along with as good a matchday experience as you can provide will entice some to want to either start watching or to return watching

It is a simple enough business plan , produce a reasonably good product , let people sample it [ for free if neccessary ] and hope they then want to buy it

My reasoning is that some have tried it before and decided they no longer liked it , but there are a lot out there that have never tried it

You chase both , problem is some will only buy ' the best ' and if you cannot provide the best they wont purchase , whereas others who have never bought that particular product might be willing to purchase something not quite the best but still a good product

Sorry I hate using all the ' buy and product ' stuff but it is the simplest way to explain the thinking
