I've said it before,if you take the plaudits you must be prepared to take the brickbats,I would do anything to save the Club, which is why I'm so angry,DB is is on par with the Blackpool lot now,it took many years to recover from them ,and it will be possibly be the same again now, hopefully someone will come in , once he has gone and recusitate the Club, I know it wont happen they won't till he shuts the door.
What happens to the Chairman ??Nothing has been been heard or said about him, very intriguing. Hopefully this answers your questions,at the time is irevalent, now we are in dire straits, I fear for the Club and it's future, I'm sure a fair few others Leythers do the same.
Myself , I will be at Dale on Sunday, at the LSV for the Batley game, and at Dews the week after, how many others will be there? Now that remains to be seen.
Charlie, our debt is to one man who has stated he will write it off if someone comes in with the money to take it forward or if players contracts are too high based on current reality then it folds to rise debt free and he will put 100k into the bank for newco. The chairman, Michael, left last year. Blackpool lot left with deeds to the ground, it got them 750k back, if you see similarities then you live in a strange place. Fwiw I see a decent short term future with a squad challenging for promotion/T4, reason being we will have crowds circa 3000 and great sponsors

Not when under contract without caveats, it's not Paye or are you saying a club can offload players/coaches under contract without penalty also. I can understand why Paul may have left, and have no issue with that but it was the innuendos in his leaving speech which came out before a joint statement that was wrong, then the events that followed

Well, in my case it's not hindsight. I did say, at the time he took over, that one man control was always going to end like this. (just as it did with Arthur, bless him)

One man in charge for me is not a problem the problem is if that one man gambles everything without a plan b,if the club had built proper foundations on the back of the quality reserves we had at the time who knows were that would have took us when we had injuries and loss of form, would we now be established in superleague and would more and more youngsters be playing for LEIGH and would we not be throwing money away on poor overseas players..who knows but I'm sure we would be in a better position than we are now

Gunners , how long and how much money to produce 1 SL quality player , given us being at best 3 rd choice for any youngster in Lancashire ?
And the odds of retaining them ?

Who knows now but we could have produced 10 or 1 we'll never know but has Wigan not signed 2 one from barrow and one that was at swinton

It tells us that Leigh will never compete with big clubs - We should be realistic and accept this as trying to compete will only end up in the situation we find ourselves now
We should give good players the likes of Rowley, Baldwin ,Higham Donlan etc etc a chance to play for their until they move on to further their career and hope that we make some kind o f money on them
You talk as though this is some kind of failure?
We cant and never have or will attract the best players.
We make do with what we get and hope we make them better

What it tells us is we cannot afford to attempt to compete in developing players and attempt to remain at the top of the 2 nd tier , it's either one or the other
Ie we try to make ourselves a strong semi pro / potential full time club capable of moving up into the top tier at some point in the future on the back of increased fan base
Or we become a feeder club constantly trying to turn sows ears into silk purses only to see them picked off at 16/18/20 , with an ever dwindling fan base
Which is more important to us right now , academy or marketing budget ?

Now then Budgie, that's below the belt. I'd never slag another club down. Here's hoping Leigh's fortunes improve soon. Not least 'cos my thumbs aching badly with all the scrolling down I'm having to do to reach your forum page. Lol!

| Correct me if I am wrong but didn't we, meaning the club get offered to join the Super League Academy comp ? & is it correct again that the opportunity was turned down because it was felt by someone/few/all at the club that it wouldn't be good getting hammered every week or similar ? this is what I seem to recall !
Surely that is not a good reason not to join the SL Clubs Academy comp ? Surely even if you only win a couple of academy games the raising & learning at the level is beneficial ?
I feel this was a short sighted decision & the club chose to pursue the short game over the long ! Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the ride but now I feel a bit like it's having a lot of exciting bump & grind with a hot girl only to find she has run off with your best friend & left you with a life long disease !
