| Quote: Alan "Keith, it was OUR fault we lost last night - just like last week. The opposition were miles better than us - well, for 22 minutes, anyway. We are getting battered by refs - justifiably probably, but it is infuriating when the other team gets away with exactly what we are being penalised for.'"
You accept the defeat was your own fault. However the ref was also against you as in your naturally biased eyes he let Cats get away with things he did not let Leigh get away with. If you read every forum about every club in every sport you will find posts saying exactly the same thing.

What is the refs job ? , to coach ? Or to enforce the rules ?
That is the point , we stepped off the mark and were penalised , a Cats player did the same and was told to " step back and re play the ball "
These are not kids , it's not like me reffing Newton West v St Paul's at junior school level

| The ref didn't miss tackles, try stupid flick passes on the first tackle in the opposition 20m, not pass when two on one with the fullback, no excuses last night was garbage for 70mins, need Drinky back to settle everything down

Keith I think the Ref wasn't that bad, his job is hard enough, without folk trying to analyse him,in the first 5 to 10 minutes of the game he gave us everything, the penalty count must have been 5 - 0 in our favour , nobody mentioned that, then our discipline went wayward ,we were put on a team warning at one stage, Gaz Hock was sin binned for mouthing to the Ref and the Ref didn't miss the tackles for the tries.
Cats tied very trick in the book to slow the game down , like Widnes the week before they went down injured after every tackle, it's gamesmanship, maybe not nice but it happens.

Cats fans in their biased way could probably point to similar incidents that they saw as being against them. Picking on an isolated incident in no way proves or disproves "the ref was against us" theory

| The RFL must act over the 'injury' delays seen over the last two weeks which have been an insult to all our intelligences. Very often when we have been on a roll too. Also to walk an injured player very slowly from 5 yards from the far touchline all the way over to the near touchline was a joke. Cats also abused the rules over personnel on the pitch regularly and despite being told by Anderson the ref did nothing

The RFL need to nip this in the bud quickly by laying the law down to the Coaches, play acting really creeping up in RL this season and we irisk a 'cry wolf' scenario as eventually refs will doubt the severity of an injury and play on.

| Quote: Alan "No argument there Steve. It's not so much the penalties we concede, or the treatment we get from some refs. I'm sure the vast majority of decisions against us are correct. It's the sheer inconsistency from ref to ref, or even from the same ref, (!!!) that incenses me. Why is it a penalty when we move off the mark, to play the ball, but the other team gets told to go back and play it again? Why is it that we get a team warning for a number of consecutive penalties, but the opposition doesn't? (they conceded four in the first two minutes!) Why is it that the opposition doesn't get a yellow card for holding down, after a break, but we do. Why do we get a yellow card for complaining, when the opposition doesn't? Why is it that we get players taken out, off the ball, but none of the officials seem to see it? Why is it that two of our players were up before the disciplinary last week, yet only one other, (Ferres) out of the 204 who took part in SL matches, were adjudged to have committed fouls serious enough to warrant disciplinary action? (I'm looking forward to seeing what Jamie Acton is cited for this week!
Agree totally,
I don't mind if it's the right/wrong decision but at least be consistent as near as possible for 80mins.

| From our point of view the return of Gigot was crucial. The ref. denied us 3 tries and I would be grateful if you know why.Hock should have kept his mouth shut.Best of luck for the rest of the season.Last week was the pits for us ,but it can be turned round

Very convenient his ban got ' rescinded ' a few days after you losing Bosc , don't you think ?
1 st try , offside
Other trys most probably not grounded given the position of the touch and in goal judges , they were certainly a lot closer and had clear views of both ' try's '

Certainly nobody disputes that you were good value for your victory.
I was also impressed with the number and passion of your supporters, who obviously enjoyed a good evening!

No doubting we are all blinkered when it comes to refs. Having taken a colossal step up from the Championship to SL, we are naive enough to think we would see an improvement in officiating, to match that of the playing standards. It is very frustrating as a mere supporter, to witness some glaring inconsistencies in referees. It must be even more frustrating, as a player, to cope with that. All our defeats so far, have been down to the opposition being better than us, but some of the officiating has been incredibly inconsistent.

We still seem to have total confusion about markers being not square, or not retiring, with an attacking player running into them - unfortunately the refs seem to have 'discretion' in those cases. What is much worse for me, is the defending player lying behind the guy playing the ball - check how many times that happened last night. Just how is the dummy half supposed to pick up the ball and pass it quickly with someone lying in his way? Excellent tactic, especially on the last tackle!
