Mo, memories are so precious, just before my Dad passed away, I took him to watch Leigh v Chorley ,it was Father's Day the game was at Hilton Park ,he couldn't stand up for long so we sat in the main stand,he said it didn't feel right sitting in the stand, said it was for the (Money Men)his place was on the opposite side near the halfway line.He never got to see the LSV,I would have loved to have taken him to watch a game from one of the Boxes.

So true Maurice
Used to stand in the "Padock" behind the Home dugouts with the smell of Wintergreen from the bench, listening to my Dad shouting at the players (encouraging them !!!) and giving little pointers to the coaches
Wish they made a time machine

Fantastic post I’m sure you’ll both treasure the experience and enjoy your time together.
Like others unfortunately my time watching with my Dad ended all too soon way back in the late 70’s due to his ill health, we still managed to enjoy our weekly updates on how they’d played up to his passing in 96.
Now I am lucky enough to have my children with me whenever work allows them to make it, and hopefully in the not too distant future taking my Grandson will mean they’ll be 3 generations of us in attendance.

| Been to virtually every ground in the country for over 50 yeas with my dad who unfortunately cant go anymore due to ill health and its just not the same any more.
It was my special time and I really bonded with my dad and that's why Leigh is so important to me and why I now have a big hole in my life at match days. He really has no idea about who plays for us and where we are but the first thing he says when I visit is "have we signed anybody yet" or "who do we play next", a true fan forever.

Wiganer in peace.
In 1948 I was carried to Central Park at the age of 3 months by my mam. She is now 94 years of age and still loves her rugby although now only on t.v. My dad and I went together until he sadly died in 2003. I took my son who is now 31 from him being 5 years of age and we still go together. I treasure the days all three of us attended the games. To any of you who think it's a bit of hardship taking kids/dads please do it, you'll have memories that last forever. When it's too late it's too late.

Great post, and your're not the only one with flights booked, I arrive same day as the Castleford game but after 28hours on a plane it might be a bit of a tall order getting up to Yorkshire, but I will be there for the first 2 home games, I'm going show this post to my dad cos he hasn't been to Leigh since Des Drummond was a Lad.

I was originally planning for the very first game but as soon as the fixtures came out that plan was changed. My Dad is too old to travel to Cas in Feb and I can only get 2 weeks off work. As much as I would love to make the very first game, being able to make 2 with my Dad (and the first home games at that) is just too important to pass up. He was started taking me as a toddler in the mid60's and we were there behind the sticks at Hilton Park until I emigrated in 1995. So many great memories with him and my uncle (now sadly gone) and time to make some more

Win, lose or draw you will make memories both of you will look back on for many years. Some of my funniest memories are dismal days/nights, with the team not playing their best, stood behind the sticks in the pooring rain, looking over to my Uncle with him puffing on his pipe then saying "well, looks like another pint is in order". Never late for a game, and NEVER left before the final whistle.
Moral is, it's not what happens in the game that's most important, it's who you are with to take it in.
Long live the famileigh of our great club

| Used to love going to the A team games with my Dad, a few pints in the bar after and loads of good gossip, before Tinternet spoiled it. Murph was always there and loved telling stories, great days.
We were there when Jason got Sine Die for flattening a Wigan player in an A Team game, could hear the crunch from the stands, luckily for him it was over turned and he had a great career.

Mish has discovered what Bongser'd like to call "A Found Poem".

All of the above.
Bongser's first memory in this vein, is being on Old Pa Bongser's shoulders as the Challenge Cup was paraded around Leythe (the last (or rather latest) time that is).
The only other one Bongser thinks worth sharing (most may disagree) is of his father at a turnstile at Hilton Park. He paid his admission and, as doing so, asked the attendant if it would be okay for his lad to hop over. The attendant winked and nodded his head towards the interior. His face changed when the skin and bone, spidery legs of a 6'3" early teenage Bongser took the turnstile in his stride
RIP OPB

| Does anyone remember going to A team games in the 60's on a Saturday, and then waiting anxiously for the half-time and full time scores to be announced over the tannoy for the first team playing away on the same day? That meant you could never leave early, but it usually ended up in disappointment in pre-Murphy era!
