Brilliant I didn't understand this was so "simple" to do! What do Leigh life currently do for storing 2gb at a time video files using a hosted platform with links to a subscription based system? How do you host video play back that supports High Definition content? Can you advise in the meeting on Thursday your suggestions and how you are going to incorporate these into the system. also you will need to consider how this change can be made to current system as it has been written to support VIMEO. Maybe a "simple" task for the folks at Leigh Life?

There's nothing wrong with the way the videos are hosted or anything else about the system currently in place, just about the length of time you/ Fred are willing to store the games. I'm just saying that a month isn't long enough - perhaps 3 months is sufficient because I don't suppose anyone will be bothered after that, though I do still think the special games should be archived. Just asking you to back up your comment about it being "simple", i am very interested on how you think this can be done. maybe my development team have missed a trick when designing this system?

No one is saying you should store the videos on Leighlife, that was just Reffy's sarcastic suggestion.

As I said earlier, there's nothing wrong with the system you use - just the length of time you plan on keeping the videos on it so please don't try to make an argument where there is none.

the problem is when using terms like its "simple" when actually you know nothing about how the system has been set up or how its configured is both derogatory and insulting.

i would also suggest as someone who is involved with Leigh RLFC you think about the impact of your comments before posting them on a public forum

Adding to the costs seems a bit ott to satisfy a couple of whingers. If it is that important to them they will buy a DVD.

It wont add to the cost reffy prices would remain at £3.50 or £32 we would just need to take £100 from the £4500 we have raised so far

For your info, should you care to attend a meeting, we do already have a system in place and always have had - that's why I say it's simple.

Don't think posts like that do anyone any favours, or reflects particularly well on the club either. Surely this is why the PM system exists instead of having a (very) public tiff?

You're right Matt it should be talked about in a meeting (which incidentally is tomorrow night) so I'm not sure why it was brought up on here. I was originally responding to the OP, nothing more.

Actually no it will not be discussed then, the chairman asked me and Stef to look at it after we have reported to him then it may be discussed.
It was brought up on here -as I explained before - to ask our customers their views, we now have some they will be reported back and mine and Stefs recommendations will be put forward.
Reffy - yes there will be extra cost but it isn't a great amount and it will be a BOD decision if it can be afforded, I was just tasked to look into it, and IMO asking the customer was the way to do it, I may ask Jonny to do a poll

Mish what you have on leigh life is defiantly simple stuff (it is a very basic low quality video player) and for example doesnt play on an iphone/ipad (i have just tested) and im guessing you have loads of space on a server hence why you can archive stuff and keep for ever.

LCTV is completely different set up which you obviously do not understand it is far from simple! You are comparing a Skoda to BMW in terms of video playback facility and performance!!

The solution is to buy more space or completely redesign the system end of. I would strongly advise staying with Vimeo as this ticks all our boxes for the job required and was thoroughly tested by my developers.
